Position Overview


The alliance management function is responsible for ensuring that MSD and its partners achieve the goals of their strategic partnerships by implementing the actions and activities stemming from their partnership agreements.


The role of Alliance Manager in MSD Greece will have overall responsibility for the management of existing partnerships and the exploration of opportunities for developing new ones.


Duties, Responsibilities, Activities

  • Establishes structure, governance, oversight and control necessary to manage alliances and monitor their performance 
  • Ensures that MSD and its partners achieve the strategic and commercial goals by implementing the actions and activities specified in their partnership agreements
  • Coordinates development of Plan and Forecasting activities, ensuring team priorities are transformed into actionable and measurable objectives
  • Manages the P&L derived from the Plan to realize/exceed ex-MSD targets and achieve the company scorecard objectives
  • Measures and reports performance on an ongoing basis to ensure budget delivery. Performance KPI analysis by managing alliances on a monthly basis. Tracking critical budget/forecasting milestones using appropriate tools. 
  • Directly drives, leads or supports key initiatives by shaping project charters, gathering and analyzing data, implement solutions and recommend resources for the achievement of the strategic and/or commercial goals.
  • Owns and manage alliances’ scorecard, measuring and monitoring success
  • Develops, maintains and improves communication and collaboration tools, ensuring that up to date information is readily accessible to all relevant stakeholders across management levels.
  • Proactively identifies, quantifies, develops and implements new business development opportunities
  • Builds alliance management capabilities with the partners and internal stakeholders on product strategies and sales competencies
  • Works with internal MSD functions and existing alliances to streamline processes to increase productivity within available resources
  • Ensure senior leaders from MSD and the Alliance Organizations remain aware of the various dimensions involved in commercializing a partnered product.

 The Alliance Manager will report to the Commercial Operations Director and will escalate to country teams and respective functional stakeholders (MD, BUs, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Regulatory) any issues related to performance or implementation. It will be the responsibility of the relevant local teams or functions to work with the Alliance Manager / partner on these issues in alignment with country management and the Commercial Operations Director.


Qualifications

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance, Engineering or Sciences.
  • A Master’s degree in Economics/M.B.A. will be considered a strong asset
  • At least 5 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical sector, with a strong and diverse background in marketing across several therapeutic areas
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation and influencing skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy
  • Ability to interact with, communicate and influence top/senior management both externally and internally
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to drive decision making by leveraging multiple sources of information (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Ability to openly express views and bring up issues, if necessary challenging the views of others (including those of top management) in an informed and appropriate manner
  • Prior experience in FMCG or Consulting will be considered a plus
  • Fluent in Greek; high level of English
