We have an exciting opportunity for an Improvement Lead .

As Improvement Lead for the business unit 
Antigeen you will develop and transfer knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and Change Execution Management methods within your team and across your IPT (business unit). This also involves collaboration with peers within the site and other sites of MSD Network. 

As an expert in Lean Six Sigma and Change Management tools you will govern the improvement initiatives portfolio for the IPT. The Improvement Lead is responsible to oversee the new product introduction project portfolio in which the Antigen IPT plays a key role. The Improvement Lead reports to the IPT Lead Antigen.

The primary purpose of the position is to lead the IPT’s improvement team, to define improvement strategy for the IPT and lead the execution of plans to meet the IPT objectives.


  • Leading, coaching and development of the Improvement team;

  • Facilitate in defining and realizing the IPT Strategy derived from the site strategy;

  • Government of the project portfolio (including new product introductions) and linking improvement initiatives on IPT level to site strategy;

  • Initiating and managing initiatives for stabilizing and improving (production) processes;

  • Assuring effective application of Lean Six Sigma and Change Management Tools;

  • Ongoing focus on identification and realization of improvement potential

  • Support to the business with investigating and solving complex cross-functional issues with the right techniques and skills;

  • Contributing to a data driven decision making process and visualising problems, progress and results;

  • Support IPT in performance review and prioritization of the IPT KPI’s (metrics, corrective actions).

The production facilities in Boxmeer are part of the global MSD Animal Health production network and manufacture and package animal health products according to GMP standards. MSD is working according to the MSD Production System (MPS), which is based on Lean Six Sigma and inclusion principles. The production organization in Boxmeer consists of several Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and Centers of Excellence (CoEs).

The IPT (Integrated Process Team) Antigen (Ag) comprises 3 production departments, Maintenance & Reliability, Improvement and work closely together with Quality Control & Assurance. The main activities of this IPT cover the manufacture of viral and bacterial antigens on a wide variety of production platforms.  The size of the IPT is app. 120 FTE.
To help us realize our overall strategy, the IPT is looking for an Improvement Lead (1 FTE) to lead and support the Improvement team in fulfilling improvements from a Delivery & Growth and Safety & Quality compliance perspective. The improvement team consists of 12 professionals.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Process Technology

  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience in a comparable environment

  • Knowledge of Biotech Process Technology, Operations Management is a pre

  • Certified Black Belt (or equivalent or willing to obtain): hands on experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques

  • Strong project management skills, change management skills and proven ability to manage complex projects

  • Experienced in training, coaching and influencing people. Strong communicator in both Dutch and English

  • Energetic and enthusiastic team player

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to learn

  • Strong communications skills and people-oriented coaching

  • Results oriented and ability to drive change with ‘Can do’ mentality.
