Associate Director IT/ IT Lead

As our IT Lead MMD (Merck Manufacturing Department) Haarlem & GSF (Global Support Functions) NL you will have a leading role in the realization of value through understanding of applicable business processes followed by identification, implementation and realization of appropriate and rightsized IT solutions for the local market, with a focus on MMD and GSF divisions. IT improvements and innovations that are to be realized will be a combination of globally and locally driven solutions, but always with a view to create an optimal value for the overall corporation. As our IT Lead MMD Haarlem & GSF NL you will act as a bridge between business challenges and technology solutions and will maintain a close relationship with Haarlem MMD business leads and GSF NL leads with review across sites and divisions to ensure alignment. You will be a member of the MMD SLT. You will also be part of the global MSD/Merck ‘One IT’ team based in the Netherlands with key focus towards the MMD in Haarlem and GSF business in the Netherlands and you will lead a team of 4 (Sr.) Business Analysts.

Your responsibilities:
• Ensure and promote collaboration with other IT divisions in market as well as parts of the MSD business, to break-down organizational boundaries in favor of a highly-collaborative and customer-centric culture.
• Continuously collaborate on strategic alignment with all projects and programs, as well as corresponding business goals.
• Drive continuous improvements and innovation, develops and outside-in view based on cross-industry networking.
• Assure and demonstrate full compliance of functional area IT systems and processes, and this towards both company requirement as well as applicable regulatory requirements.
• Managing the MMD IT Haarlem & GSF NL IT team of 4 (Sr.) Business Analysts.
• Provide guidance to the business around vendors and technical trends in line with the IT service catalogue.
• Serves as primary point of contact to the MMD Haarlem and GSF NL business. Participates in overall business IT planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as related to site MMD and GSF NL objectives. Establishes and communicates overall strategy for information technology needs (business-aligned IT strategy).
• Is accountable for the development of custom solutions by the teams for which no global solution exists and that are not been identified as the basis for a current global system; takes responsibility for the full business case and requirement definition in combination with the business and development, and as applicable global delivery teams including but not limited to, followed by applicable rollout activities for approved business cases.
• In close partnership with client, ensures long-term organization-wide information needs are understood and communicates overall strategy for information technology needs (business-aligned IT strategy)
• Monitors & reports to client on IT performance in support of business objectives.
• Builds a strategic IT capability for the client through strategic staffing, and organizational development, as well as employee recruitment, retention and development.
• Ensures local project management (MSPS) activities are aligned to business case and developed and reported within site IT budget.
• Reports on key performance indicators and other appropriate measures/metrics to assure projected value realization, and manages/escalates corresponding issues within IT and to the Site IT management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Level:
• Education: BSc or Master’s Degree or equivalent with relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience.
• You should have 8+ years of related experience in areas providing IT services to a diverse customer base. Both in operational area and project based.
• Good understanding of cGMP's, SDLC and LEAN/MPS principles. Experienced in validation of IT systems. (Lean Six Sigma Green or Black belt is desirable)
• Proven track record of analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills, and high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior clients, IT and business leaders is a mandatory requirement. Demonstrated leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization.
• Ability to translate business requirements into IT solutions. Ability to develop, articulate and build support around a long-term vision and implement incremental milestones in support of that vision.
• The candidate should have 5+ years’ experience in managing people and larger teams.
• Native or fluent in Dutch and English. You need to speak Dutch in order to fulfill this position.
• Good understanding and working experience with Industry 4.0 philosophy is preferred.

About the Department
The IT department in Haarlem is part of the larger IT NL organization in the Netherlands, and has a global reporting line. The NL team exist of IT site leads and Business Analysts whom interact with business as POC and define strategic business demand, execute project and deployment management and partners with regional hub and platform teams to deliver business added value solutions. The team closely collaborates with the Global Infrastructure and Application management teams.
