Description:
The global Poultry R&D department is looking for an enthusiastic new team member to support our bacteriological and parasitological vaccine development projects.

The Animal Health R&D organization for the development of biologicals is organized in five Species groups (Aquatic, Companion Animals, Poultry, Ruminants and Swine) and Discovery and Technology (D&T).
The Poultry Biologicals R&D department has global responsibility for the development of new vaccines for chickens. We develop inactivated, live, and genetically modified vaccines for all regions in the world. The team is based in Europe and in the US and we are now looking for a scientist to be based in our research facility in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.
As part of our global team, you will have the opportunity to work in a team of talented and dedicated colleagues.

:
As a scientist you will be working in a project team in one or more research projects for the development of bacteriological or parasitological vaccines and you will report to a project leader. You will be involved in test development and the set-up and performance of studies. Our current bacteriological and parasitological vaccine development is located in Milton Keynes in the UK. Therefore, during the first half year of the job you will also work with members from our team in Milton Keynes which will require travel to the UK on multiple occasions.

For this position job interviews will be planned in November/December and we are hoping to hire in January.

Your responsibilities:



  • Planning, execution and reporting of (animal) studies.

  • Development and performance of new in-vitro or in-vivo test methods or production processes with focus on bacteriological or parasitological techniques.

  • Growth, quantification and characterization of bacteria/parasites using in-vitro and in-vivo test systems.

  • Maintain contacts with involved departments (production, quality and animal research departments).

  • Running studies according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Safety Health and Environment (SHE) compliance requirements.

  • Interacting closely with fellow scientists within own and other departments.
Qualifications

Desired skills & experience



  • A Bachelor degree (HLO) or Master degree in the subject area with minimal 3 year of laboratory experience.

  • Experience in laboratory techniques in the areas of bacteriology or parasitology.

  • Affinity with vaccine development.

  • Experience with GLP and SHE requirements.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Excellent team player.
