Purpose of Role:

This role is to lead the Engineering Safety Programs for Process Safety and Machinery and Equipment Safety. This is a site support role and will require providing leadership and support to the team and also interacting with site stakeholders. This is a high profile role both on site and also due to the management of above site stakeholders.

 

Activities Within Role:


  • Engage with above site stakeholders to understand the global Engineering and EHS standards associated with Process Safety and Equipment and Machinery Safety.

  • Lead a team of 4 Engineers.

  • Develop and Deliver a site plan ensuring site compliance with the global standards.

  • Set up systems on-site that ensure that on-site processes, systems and procedures ensure compliance to the corporate standards.

  • Act as site point of contact for process safety and machinery compliance requests/queries.

  • Ensure that all process changes and projects have the correct assessements to ensure compliance ahead of becoming operational.

  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is to the required standard and filed appropriately for reference.

  • Ensure the site HAZOP register is upto date and schedule periodic  review Hazops as per site schedule.

  • Assist in trouble shooting issues.

  • Site Approval of safety calculations for sizing of explosion relief devices.

  • Conduct safety audits and continuously improve the Site safety management systems

  • Oversee introduction of new products to the site from a process safety perspective.

  • Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure they meet safety requirements.

  • Lead internal site audits.

  • Understand the function of safety devices on machinery and direct the installation of controls based on these devices.

  • Review Corporate EHS Policies, Procedures, and Programs, provide technical expertise review and recommend improvements where necessary and apply knowledge of internal policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

  • Provide mentoring and training for site personnel.

  • Perform other activities as assigned.

Continuous Improvements:

Use Lean principles to deliver a cost efficient operating model for commercial production while not compromising EHS and Quality standards.



Coaching and Training:

Coaching others by sharing your skill-set and expertise.

 

Reports to:

Associate Director, Engineering Centre of Excellence.

Qualifications

Job Experience:



  • 5+ Years working in a regulated environment in a similar role.

 

Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Chemical or Mechanical Engineering in a related discipline.

     

     

    Skill-Set Expected:


  • Ability to work on own initiative to resolve issues.


  • Excellent communication skills.


  • Ability to muti-task and work to tight deadlines.
