The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech Dublin, will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

• Have experience with deployment and operation of MES environments, preferably Werum PAS-X Version 3
• Understand the Computerised systems validation
• (SDLC) model and be capable of creating and maintaining development documentation from project initiation through development, configuration, testing and deployment
• Be capable of managing external vendors and working with Internal Centre of Excellence
• Process knowledge and proven experience in implementing/developing MBR’s for a pharmaceutical site.


• The Initial responsibility of this role is to act as MES Steward for the development and deployment of MES on site.
• Champion of the implementation and successful use of MES at the site
• Realisation of value from MES implementation from business process improvements through use of data to drive operational improvements
• Representation of site operations in internal and external MES forums
• Liaison with local SAP team to ensure data / business processes are implemented in line with company standards
• The Role will transition to a Manufacturing Technologist once the project has moved to sustaining.


The Manufacturing Technologist -MES Lead will report to the Associate Director Operations (Drug Substance)



• Demonstrate a compliance mindset for EH&S and Quality standards, regulations and practices.
• Demonstrated ability in holding project team members responsible for results and being decisive about non-performers.
• Demonstrated ability to realize improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, Six Sigma team, PITs etc.
• Demonstrated high level of problem solving and facilitation skills.
• Advanced PC skills such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Stakeholder management of multi decision makers, colleagues, peers and cross functional teams.

• At least three years experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating environment with experience in a Technical role in a manufacturing environment.
• Process and technology background.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with a continuous improvement focus.
• Demonstrated capability to collaborate and influence across cross functional teams

• Degree or 3rd level qualification (Production, Mechanical, Process, Industrial, Electrical)
• Desirable evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
• Desirable for Six Sigma Green Belt.
• Desirable project management qualification such as PMP
• Demonstrated knowledge in more than one pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing operation (e.g. manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc).
