MSD BIOTECH, DUBLIN

The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech Dublin, will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for supporting the start-up of MSD Biotech Dublin. They will guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems. Working with our Engineering Team and with other Site Groups in the development of our site Asset Management Programs they will identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations. They will also measure asset performance and develop cross functional forums to review and analysis data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure compliance to all Safety, regulatory GMP and Environmental requirements.
• Perform and facilitate Failure Mode Effect Analysis on critical assets.
• Work with teams to defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Strategy that includes Prescriptive and Predictive programs to ensure designated site equipment operate safe and reliable.
• Support Investigations or deviations to find root cause and implement effective Corrective and Preventative Actions.
• Coach, mentor and provide technical training to colleagues on reliability and asset lifecycle management.
• Works with Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
• Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
• Participates in the final check out of new installations.
• Support the usage of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
• Provides input to Risk Management and Business Continuity Plans that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
• Perform Data analysis techniques that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets such as: Statistical Process Control, Reliability modelling, Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Remaining useful life.
• Provides technical support to operations, maintenance management and technical personnel.
• Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.
• Develop and present Performance Metrics, set up regular cross functional reviews of initiatives.
• Support Engineering Excellence Initiatives – participate in local and corporate programs.
• Pursues and use new technologies and methodologies.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

Will report to Engineering - Centre of Excellence Lead.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS



General
• Engineering qualification with 4+ year’s experience, some of which needs to be in reliability role.


 


 
Technical
• Knowledgeable of asset and reliability maintenance requirements and Asset Lifecycle Standards, i.e. ISO 55000.
• Experience of problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of SAP or another Maintenance Management System.
• knowledge and experience of Maintenance and Reliability programs.
• Experience in Facilitation of Design Reviews, FMEA Studies, Safety Reviews.



People
• Excellent organising, planning skills, and communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross functional collaborative environment.
• Comfortable providing guidance to others.
• Works with flexibility to react to changing business needs.


Education
• A Level 8 qualification in engineering with evidence of continuous professional development, in addition a reliability / asset management qualification is desirable.
