MSD Animal Health is recruiting a Ruminant Business Unit Director in Ireland

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled, ambitious influential individual to join us as a Business Unit Director in our Ruminant Business Unit. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role has full responsibility for the commercial operations with the Ruminant Business Unit.This role will be based at our Headquarters in Red Oak North, Leopardstown with regular travel across the country.

The Key Resposnsibility of the role include:


  • Designing the BU strategy in collaboration with other internal stakeholders and contributes to the multi-species strategy for MSD in Ireland

  • Responsible for the BU P&L and collaborates closely with his/her Finance Business Partner

  • Executing commercial plans and strategies including financial budgets across the Ruminant product range. Maximising performance (Sales volume, market share and profit) within broad guidelines established by AH Divisional, Regional VP and the General Manager.

  • Partnering with Global and Regional species leadership in the company, to ensure effective and timely product marketing campaigns for the Ruminants species within the market.

  • Building and leading effective teams of marketing and sales professionals, exploiting opportunities for product sales, technical support and problem resolution

  • Building effective and mutually beneficial relationships with key customers. Liaising with all customers to ensure business success and constantly maintains a customer focused approach

  • Participating in the creation of and leading the implementation of business plans for the Ruminant BU. 

  • Responsible for rapid operational problem resolution for the BU. The BU Director is the focal point for issues related to product supply, pricing and problem resolution.
Qualifications



  • Degree in Science or business (or equivalent qualification). A post graduate degree or MBA preferred but not essential 

  • Min. 5 years in senior leadership position with substantial experience of working in a highly-matrixed network and in a role with significant P&L responsibility

  • A career journey showing development and increasing levels of responsibility

  • Significant commercial experience in the Irish market in industries such as: Pharmaceutical, Animal Health, Animal Nutrition, FMCG (this list is not exhaustive). International experience/exposure may be beneficial for future career development.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and manage a large team

  • Proven strategic thinking and problem solving skills 

  • Proven ability to identify and develop talent within the team and wider organisation

  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity and track-record in adherence to Company compliance policies and procedures

  • Fluent English language (other languages beneficial).

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to commit to approximately 30% - 40% travel in-country with overseas travel as required
