We are now looking for a Laboratory Information Management System Specialist to play a pivotal role in the development of our new world-class biotechnology facility in Dublin where they will have the opportunity to help shape the future of biotech in Ireland and play a significant role in the next chapter of our invention and discovery story. 


The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) specialist role is a critically important activity to ensure efficient and effective compliant design, construction, qualification, and operation of the new strategic MSD Drug Substance facility.  This tremendous opportunity will be responsible for the LIMS setup and maintenance across all the QC labs (Microbiology, Bioassay, Raw materials, Chemistry, Environmental Monitoring, Stability). This person will be key in the layout of the lab testing to ensure the process is streamlined and in line with MSD lean methodologies and ensuring a paperless lab process can be implemented. Additional development opportunities across the labs will be strongly considered to recognize the tremendous value of knowledge / experience gained by the candidate during the project phases.

The facility deploys and uses the latest innovations in technology and automation and latest analytical techniques. The candidate will work with a high performing cross functional team of talent sourced from across MSD and the biotechnology industry. Together, the team will build the future of MSD biologics through a Quality culture that delivers unconstrained supply, Right First Time to our patients through an inspired team.

The candidate will be key in the setup and build of static data in the MSD Global LIMS for the Biotech Dublin site.

The candidate will be actively supported and encouraged to continue their development and knowledge build, incorporating areas to support their future development and ability to continuously improve in their current role.

The candidate will provide support to all LIMS users on site including training and guidance on the use of the system.

Activities Within the Role:


  • Set up and deploy LIMS and ELN with the QC laboratories
  • Manage and maintain LIMS and associated ELN system for all users on site.
  • Ensure all static data within LIMS meets Lab requirements.
  • Adhere to internal MSD Data Integrity standards.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, etc. and implement all follow-up corrective & preventative measures.
  • Participate and Comply with the MSD Quality Management System requirements.
  • Develop LIMS training + assist rollout of LIMS training on site.
  • Promote and participate in the implementation and maintenance of the relevant safety programmes.

Job Experience

3-5 years industry experience with significant knowledge and experience in LIMS,  laboratory instruments and the system development life cycle.


  • Degree qualification (Science/Quality/Technical).
  • Desirable evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Preference Lean Six Sigma
