The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech, Dublin will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

The Supply Chain management (SCM) Steward will support the introduction of SAP and connecting systems to the MSD Biotech Dublin facility as part of the Project phase of the site start-up and will be responsible for managing, overseeing and leading initiatives for compliant, accurate and timely supply chain data to support supply chain systems, processes and objectives.


This incumbent will include responsibility for the following:

  • Lead Master Data projects & coordinate with stakeholders to ensure master data milestones are met

  • Develop, monitor & enforce data management documentation (SOP’s etc.)

  • Manage & analyze workflow data requests for compliance, accuracy and completeness

  • Design and drives user acceptance testing (for new SAP introduction, data changes, disaster recovery and so forth)

  • Train & advise team members on data standards to ensure all data management processes are adhering to the standards

  • Manage data entry in key systems and oversee the end to end data management process

  • Accountable for tracking and achieving master data accuracy targets

  • Act as expert and educate team members, end users, and business leaders on MDM processes and the master data lifecycle to enable accurate, efficient, and timely quality processes and data

  • Collaborate with data owners across multiple functions to create new and maintain existing data standards

  • Lead resolution of master data related issues to ensure no interruption to manufacturing operations or customer supply.
    The incumbent will also be responsible for driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by deploying MSD Six Sigma tools within the Supply Chain function.


This role reports to the COMET Lead.



  • 3-5 years of SAP Master Data experience in the Manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience in SAP deployment and setup of master data business processes.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Production planning, Quality, finance or related fields.

  • SAP Master Data experience should include excellent understanding of Material Master, purchasing, BOM, Routing, Quality etc.…

  • Degree or 3rd level qualification (Business, Science, Engineering)
    o Advanced degree, diploma or certification in Data or Supply Chain Management preferred

  • Possess superior analytical skills in data management, interpretation and reporting

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills that enable effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills as well as good presentation skills

  • Demonstrated leadership behaviours (refer to MSD key behaviours).

  • Experience of moulding a culture to one of inclusion and continuous development for all employees.
