For our MSD Haarlem site we are looking for an:

Associate Director Technical Operations

MSD in Haarlem is focused on production and packaging of medicines. Haarlem is transformed to a Lean organisation with short reporting lines, autonomous teams and delegation of authority at a level as low as possible in the organisation. Our production process is executed by four 'Integrated Process Teams' (IPTs). All supported by Centres of Excellence (CoE's) and global support functions with expertise in for example innovative technical operations, quality control, HR, Health, Safety and Environment, Finance or the composition of new packaging lines. For the department Technical Operations we are looking for an Associate Director Technical Operations

The CoE Technical Operations is responsible for engineering and capital project execution for the entire MSD site in Haarlem. The Associate Director Technical Operations is responsible for the site-wide Capital expense budget, overall projectplanning and qualification activities. Within Technical Operations he/she is responsible for quality assurance, EHS, innovation, guidelines and performance indicators. The Associate Director Technical Operations reports to the Director Technical Operations in Haarlem.

In this role you are responsible for:
  • Management of the Capital budget (> €30mln), depreciation and overall Capex Planning of the site Haarlem.
  • Influence across other MMD sites regarding project execution approach, innovations and technical procedures and quidelines
  • Being part of global communities of practice such as innovation core team
  • Execution and implementation of Quality Assurance, EHS and Qualification related activities within Technical Operations.
  • The local technical and technical related EHS procedures, and project performance indicators/dashboard. 
  • People management activities within your team
  • Translation of MMD strategies into long term CoE plans
  • Make decisions regarding management of site wide capexproject portfolio and overall project planning. In cooperation with other CoE's and IPT Directors, make decisions on capex budget. 
  • Initiate, prioritize and manage improvement initiatives for the sitewide (and possibly international) Capex project execution process.
Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Engineering degree on a MSc. or a BSc. Degree level
  • Minimum of 7 years of management experience preferably in the packaging or pharmaceutical industry;
  • Familiarity and comfort with advanced/emerging technology trends such as production automation, serialisation/aggregation;
  • Experience with planning and managing projects and/or programs with various stakeholders at various levels within an organization;
  • Capable of thinking and acting strategically, innovatively and creatively;
  • Strong communicative skills, fluent in both Dutch as well as English (spoken and written).
  • Experience with working in international teams.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma applications and cultural changes
