Under the direction of the regional Director for the Global Human Health
(GHH)-IT and accountable to the Commercial Human Health and GSF (Global Support
Functions) leads in NL, this position will be accountable for all Commercial IT
and Support functions IT activities in support of the NL market.  

As a member of the regional commercial IT leadership team, you will help shape
the local and regional IT strategy in close partnership with local and regional
digital lead roles.

Secondarily, you will also act also as the accountable lead for orchestration
of in-market IT needs for other business divisions that do not have dedicated
divisional IT teams present in the market. 

As an IT Country Leader, you will holistically represent the Dutch IT teams
within regional governance bodies, and this in close collaboration with each
divisional regional IT leader, market production IT leads and infrastructure
leads.  You will need to assure full and
continuous compliancy with regulatory and company requirements.


This is an IT leadership role, responsible for the realization of local
business value based on the understanding of applicable business processes,
followed by identification, implementation and value realization of appropriate
IT & digital solutions for the local market.  You will need to develop and manage the local IT
portfolio tied to the business realization goals. IT improvements and innovations
to be realized will be a combination of globally and locally driven solutions,
but always with a view to create an optimal value for the overall corporation.

It’s critical that you collaborate with regional and global solution and
platform organizations. You will lead a team of 3 IT Business Analysts.



Primary activities/responsibilities


  • As
    the Netherland’s Commercial Digital Transformation accelerates,
    proactively identify country business needs and associated IT/digital
    solutions, and help define and influence the digital strategy and
    execution in close collaboration with the business side.

  • Partner
    with the local digital lead in the sales & marketing organization, to
    ensure that the IT portfolio and roadmaps are integrated with both the
    Digital Transformation agenda and global IT strategy.

  • Ensure
    that optimal business solutions are delivered using both MSD owned and
    commercially available technology platforms, using a “platform first”

  • Partner
    with IT colleagues to deliver on the IT portfolio in both the commercial
    IT and GSF IT environment. Optimize available resources with maximum
    business and IT efficiency. 

  • Work
    with our IT partners from the divisions as well as from our enterprise
    functions, and follow global contracts to provide IT operations and
    support services to required service levels.

  • Build,
    promote and develop a strong and highly engaged IT team that has the
    flexible skills for program and project management, business analysis and
    technical services as appropriate with the skills necessary to provide the
    various IT services required. Proactively seek ways to improve team
    functioning, cohesiveness and effectiveness.

  • Lead
    all efforts relating to strategic IT planning, IT delivery, IT services
    and IT budget and spending for the commercial operation and
    GSF in NL. Proactively identify business needs and associated IT solutions
    and needs as well as manage a governance structure to facilitate the
    prioritization and project selection process, and drive alignment on
    selection of optimal IT investments.

  • Work
    with Commercial GHH and GSF senior leadership team to influence business
    strategy and drive the development of an IT account (business) plan, which
    supports the business and continues to simplify the IT footprint.
  • Develop
    and manage the IT investment portfolio for GHH and GSF tied to business
    realization goals and define service levels for operational systems.

  • Partner
    with regional and functional leaders to understand the market and industry
    business drivers in order to shape and influence the business, and
    articulate and sell a cohesive IT strategy.

  • Champions
    the IT Community and will be responsible for maintaining the ONE IT
    community in the market in close collaboration with the other Site
    divisional and GTO leads in the market.

  • Be
    a leader in the IT Community with special focus on the Country IT Leaders
    and Client Services Leaders. Ensure that the Netherland digital
    acceleration journey is shared across the IT Community ensuring uplift of
    the digital knowledge in IT.


do you need to bring

  • Bachelor degree in
    Information Technology, Science or Business is required
  • 5-8 year
    experience in IT/digital management, working with business leadership teams and
    driving IT/Digital strategy, specific IT skills to delivery of IT programs and
    support processes
  • Familiarity with
    commercial operations and go to market strategies
  • Knowledge/experience
    of development and deployment of innovative solutions in any business domain
    from conceptualization through delivery
  • Knowledge/experience
    in Systems Development Life Cycles
  • Business &
    financial acumen
  • Strategic thinking
  • Ability to
    thinking cross-divisionally and working across boundaries
  • Demonstrated
    ability to build relationships with senior business executives
  • Relationship
    management and networking: strong integration into the IT network and ability
    to build productive relationships with all parties
  • Fluency in English
    and Dutch required
