The site in Heist-op-den-Berg is manufacturing and packaging innovative prescription and consumer care drugs. Our production volume is more than 170 mio sales units with 101 formulas and 9400 packaging orders for more than140 countries and it has more than 800 employees.


The position

HR is a driving force in continuously evolving MSD as an efficient organisation with the right capabilities working together to deliver on customers’ and patients’ needs.


Reporting into the HR Director MSD Belgium and Luxemburg, as a Human Resources Lead you will support the plant manager and senior leadership team in order to realize site and company objectives by:


  • Acting as a change agent, translating and implementing global HR strategy on a local level;

  • Acting as a strategic partner for local management; translating Business strategy into a people strategy and support implementation;

  • Providing lean HR processes and HR tools in compliance with legal requirements.

We are explicitly looking for someone with strong potential, the ability to grow to a more senior HR Leadership role within a relatively short time frame.


As a Human Resources Lead you will manage a team of HR Business Partners/specialists. 


Main areas of responsibility:

Work force planning and organizational change in line with business strategy:

  • Headcount planning: develop workforce plan & staffing strategy, follow-up number of permanent / temp contracts, follow-up headcount budget, execute rightsizing exercises;

  • Organizational change: organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, span of control, layers.


Talent management & development:

  • Support talent management process: identification of talent gaps, support talent reviews & succession planning, identification & action plans for key talent;

  • Leadership development  identification of gaps, action plans to develop necessary leadership capabilities: support global initiatives, implement site initiatives and provide individual coaching.


Labor relations:

  • Build trust with union representatives;

  • Ensure legal compliance: adherence to work standard, monthly works council, other policies and agreements;

  • (CBA) negotiations.


Employee relations:

  • Implement diversity program objective setting, defining actions to change mindset and increase diversity;

  • Sponsor the corporate bi-yearly employee Pulse survey and support organization in defining appropriate actions to increase engagement;

  • Provide necessary communication/ support to managers & employees on HR processes & procedures;

  • Ensure smooth and compliant HR processes and operations.

Compensation & benefits:

  • Assessment of business needs: initiate appropriate actions within national and global C&B policies with Subject Matter Expert in the organization;

  • Communication on C&B policies.


Occupational Health:

  • Ensure health programs and procedures are implemented according to legal and company requirements (in close cooperation with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety department);

  • Special focus on absenteeism, ergonomics and prevention of mental /social risks (new legislation).


Management of HR:

  • Leading and developing the HR team ensuring close coaching, support and development discussions

  • Continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, operations in order to increase efficiency ;

  • Management of HR budget;

  • Defining, analyzing and tracking HR KPI’s;
Representing HR in cross functional meetings.Qualifications

  • Academic degree in Business/ Human Resource Management or equivalent;

  • At least 15 years of  experience as an HR Business Partner;

  • At least 3 – 5 years of experience in a management position in human resources;

  • Experience in a manufacturing area is a strong plus;

  • Experience in working within a complex, Matrix HR environment;

  • Being comfortable with constant change and leading the team through change;

  • Experience in working with unions;

  • Knowledge of the Belgian labour law and state of the art practices in HR;

  • Strong coaching skills, especially in coaching managers;

  • Capability of inspiring, getting buy-in and influencing to achieve results on a management level;

  • Strong personality, organized and ability to give push-back;

  • Strong potential, ability to grow to a more senior HR Leadership role;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dutch and English (French is a plus).
