About the role:

 

 


Deliver customer and market Insights effectively and efficiently to the BUs to enable better decision making and execution through Market Research, Analysis, Forecasting and Performance monitoring.


 

Highly skilled team with greater customer and brand understanding; consulting as a business partner to inform strategic direction and effective tactical implementation.


 

Leading, coordinating and ensuring delivery of key cross Business Insight outputs   i.e. National, Sub-National Targeting and Planning. 


 

Appling technical skills and experience to support the design of innovative and efficient Business Insights to deliver on our 2020 goals, including the active involvement in cross MSD initiatives and project teams.


 

Key Activities:


 

Business Insights


  • Forecasting both National and Sub-National, Market & Environmental Understanding

  • National/Regional/Local Customer Mapping and Profiling

  • Value Proposition development support (with open access Gvt. Data)

  • Tactical UK Market Research and liaison global UK-based MR

  • Customer Centricity Research including Trust and Value

  • COP, Customer Network Mapping, customer targeting and implementation

  • Multi-channel preference evaluation & tracking

  • National, Sub-National and in-market performance reporting, KPI Reporting Tool Management

  • Sub-National Business Tool Management

  • SFIP, Targeting and Bonus Management

 

People Management

 

Coaching, providing guidance and expertise on market research and analytics for Interns and more junior Business Insight leads. Supervising Interns to deliver on performance objectives and cross Business Insight performance reporting and ad hoc projects.


 


Product and Market Focus

 

Understand the product and service responsible for supporting and stay abreast of current product marketing strategy as well as developing trends and factors affecting market dynamics.


Understand the customer environment and developing trends and their impact on MSD products and services supported and key competitors.


Maintain up to date knowledge and emerging trends of Market Research and Analytical methodologies, the guidelines that needs to be followed and how these can be used to deliver Business Insights to inform decisions.


 


Professional Conduct

 

Follow all company policies, business practices and compliance guidelines including Market Research SOP, COP SOP, Real world data governance policies and AE Reporting guidelines.

Qualifications

Knowledge Required:

 

Strong product, therapy and services business area knowledge for MSD products and key competitors supporting; as well as a broad industry knowledge.


Good understanding of NHS and broader health landscape as well as dynamics of the changing customer environment and implications for the company and Business Insights required.


 


Understanding of business metrics and their application as well as a very good understanding of the MSD planning cycle and strategic planning processes.


Understand of the of the available public data in the NHS and emerging trends and how they can be used to support decision making.


 


Skills and Competencies Required:


Technical / Experience


  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills

  • Good Microsoft skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to work through ambiguity and uncertainty

  • Collaboration, team work approach

  • Strong planning, prioritisation and co-ordination and outputs oriented

  • Good problem solving and decision making

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Ideally 3+ years previous Analytical functional roles within pharmaceutical, biotech or medical industries preferred

  • 3+ years’ experience in analytics or related roles (both at a functional and managerial level)

  • Strong marketing and market understanding in areas supporting

  • Excellent understanding of Market Research and analysis methodologies, techniques and guidelines

  • External Agency engagement and project management

  • Understanding of data sources, guidelines and their application

 

Business Acumen – works closely with franchise leads and their teams to provide support for business decisions through the provision of accurate, timely, high quality information, analysis and interpretation. Providing recommendations and business options/scenarios for consideration.



Impact – Comfortable raising potential risks and concerns with franchise Leads and teams and involving Head of Insights and Solutions as required.



Influencing – Works collaboratively with franchise Leads and teams to ensure accurate and reliable forecasting of future performance and market trends are utilised.



Decision Making – works collaboratively with Managers and teams to surface issues and drive for timely decisions to ensure development, implementation and monitoring of quality business plans.

Strategic Thinking – Support Strategic Planning function by providing accurate, timely, high quality information, analysis and interpretation.  As well as a range of recommendations and alternatives as applicable.

Consulting as a business partner and expert to inform strategic direction and effective tactical implementation.
