MSD has a newly created opportunity for a Contractor Coordinator to join the Engineering team. This position will see you take ownership of Contractor management onsite and your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Authorizing work permits, which specifies the conditions under which the work must be carried out. 
  • Ensuring that the Contractors meet the training and competency requirements commensurate with the role and responsibilities
  • Ensuring the permit receiver completes a site induction and that they have all signed required documentation prior to commencing work
  • Developing and prepare the work permit and ensure that all hazards/risks have been identified, assessed and controlled 
  • Ensuring that the permit receiver fully understands the scope of work including the correct work location.
  • Maintaining the permit activity register in a timely and accurate manner 
  • Ensuring that all documentation is fully completed prior to and after completion of any tasks. This includes any attached documentation. e.g. Isolation certificates and other task-specific permits 
  • Identifying and arranging immediate actions for non-compliance and reporting to appropriate persons for further action that may be required.
  • Carrying out assigned Pre and Post inspections/task observations for all permit work.
  • Performing risk assessments and making recommendations for safe work practices.
  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed by contractors 
  • Supporting the investigation and resolution of incidents and accidents in a timely manner.


To be successful as a Contractor Coordinator you will:

  • Hold a Trade
    Certificate or higher in either Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation,
    desirable NZCE or B Tech.

  • Ideally hold
    additional qualifications in Environmental Health and Safety

  • Demonstrate relevant
    work experience within an Engineering discipline

  • Desirable further
    qualifications, courses or diplomas related to EHS

  • Have strong working
    knowledge of GMP/GLP or ISO 9000 preferably within a Production
