The BARDS  European Center of Excellence is supporting Health Technology Assessment (HTA) dossiers through analysis and reporting of late stage clinical trials. This Center of Excellence consists of one team of Statisticians and Statistical Programmers based across its London (UK) and Brussels (Belgium) sites. It provides support to the Center for Observational and Real World-Evidence (CORE), within our research laboratories.





The BARDS Europe statistical programming team is composed of talented and inspired scientists, working in a multi-cultural and collaborative environment.


Roles and Responsibilities for this Position



You will be part of the Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) organization which has a presence in the US, Europe and Asia. By joining MSD on this role you will apply your skills and experience in support of developing scientifically based arguments aiming to provide fair accessibility to MSD drugs and vaccines making a real difference in patient’s lives.


In this role, you will:  


  • Support and lead analysis and reporting on HTA projects. Those HTA projects consist of (re-)using clinical trial data to derive HTA analysis datasets and deliver Tables, Figures and Listings (TFLs) in support of HTA dossiers. 
  • Collaborate with the HTA statisticians to gather and interpret the requirements. 
  • Ensure proper project planning. 
  • Access, gather and transform the required data into HTA analysis datasets. 
  • Work independently and as part of project teams, ensure high quality, compliant and efficient delivery of flexible FTLs reporting tools mostly using the SAS programming macro language.




  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in an analytical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Life Sciences or related fields) with 3-7 years of SAS statistical programming experience preferably in clinical trial environments for safety and efficacy reporting. 
    BS degree in an analytical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Life Sciences or related fields) with 5-9 years of SAS statistical programming experience preferably in clinical trial environments for safety and efficacy reporting Advanced SAS programming skills including SAS/BASE, SAS/MACRO, SAS/GRAPH, etc.
  • Strong analytical mind-set with high level of accountability for quality, compliance and timelines.
  • Team oriented with demonstrated history of teamwork and collaboration; enjoying diversity, respect and integrity. Ability and interest to work across cultures in an international environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent collaboration, negotiation and organization skills, creative thinking, and good communication and leadership skills.
  • Capacity to seamlessly assimilate new projects and stakeholders.
  • Successful experience in developing analysis and reporting statistical programming deliverables (datasets, statistical analyses, report tables, and graphics) for research and development projects.
  • Understanding of statistical terminology and concepts; Potential to design and develop complex programming algorithms.
  • Prior experience with project management. Ability to coordinate the work of others and to engage key stakeholders. 
  • Experience in supporting deliverables used for HTA dossiers. 
  • Experience in CDISC data standards (SDTM, ADaM).
