Under the direction of the Director GHHIT EURAM, the IT Country Leader for Switzerland will serve as the single point of accountability to ensure that technology solutions and services meet the strategic and operational goals of the human health commercial (GHH) activities within the Swiss marketplace.

 

Switzerland is the largest single commercial market in the fast growing EURAM region.  Our Global Human Health (GHH) division is focused on becoming the healthcare partner of choice within the country and the GHH team is working to actively shape the environment to save and improve lives, in line with our company mission.  Information technology, analytics and digital capabilities will be key enablers to the achievement of these goals. Correspondingly, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with the GHH leadership team in Switzerland.

 

Within the responsibilities, this position is the leading role in the realization of value through understanding of applicable business processes followed by identification, implementation and realization of appropriate and right-sized IT solutions for the local market. This leader will develop and manage the IT portfolio tied to the business realization goals. IT improvements and innovations to be realized will be a combination of globally and locally driven solutions, but always with a view to create an optimal value for the overall corporation. It’s critical that this leader collaborate with regional and global solution and platform organizations.

 

The Swiss IT Country Leader will represent IT as a whole on market-level and regional governance bodies, in close collaboration with our Reasearch Division site IT lead, the IT Client Service Leader Supply Chain EMEA/Asia Pacific and market focused GTO leads.

 

In addition, the incumbent will actively identify cross-divisional synergies as well as orchestrating cross-divisional efforts / projects in partnership with in-market IT leads.  This leader will work across other market divisions and IT colleagues to drive collaboration, efficiencies and reusability. Additionally, the IT country lead will assure full and continuous compliancy with regulatory and company requirements.

 

He/she will lead a team of 2 IT Business Analysts.

 

 

Primary activities/responsibilities

 


  • Partner with local business and digital leadership functions to proactively identify country business needs and associated IT solutions and help define and influence the digital strategy and execution.

  • Work with GHH senior leadership team to influence business strategy and drive the development of an IT account (business) plan, which supports the business and continues to simplify the IT footprint

  • Partner with regional and functional leaders to understand the market and industry business drivers in order to shape and influence the business, and articulate and sell a cohesive IT strategy.

  • Develop and manage the IT country investment portfolio tied to business realization goals and define service levels for operational systems.

  • Ensure the IT portfolio and roadmaps are integrated with the Digital Transformation agenda and global IT strategy.

  • Partner with IT colleagues to deliver on the IT portfolio. Optimize available resources with maximum business and IT efficiency. 



  • Work with our IT partners from the divisions as well as from our enterprise functions and follow global contracts to provide IT operations and support services to rights-sized and cost-effective service levels.

  • Lead all efforts relating to strategic IT planning, IT delivery, IT services and IT budget and spending for the commercial operation. Proactively identify business needs and associated IT solutions and needs as well as manage a governance structure to facilitate the prioritization and project selection process, and drive alignment on selection of optimal IT investments.

  • Ensure that optimal business solutions are delivered using both MSD owned and commercially available technology platforms, using a “platform first” as well as “optimized asset lifecycle” mind-set.

  • Build, promote and develop a strong and highly engaged IT team that has the flexible skills for program and project management, business analysis and technical services as appropriate with the skills necessary to provide the various IT services required. Proactively seek ways to improve team functioning, cohesiveness and effectiveness.

  • Manage and enhance operational systems to ensure defined and evolving service levels are met.

  • Collaborate with IT colleagues from other divisions to create a broader IT Community to create value to MSD through IT solutions.

  • Be a leader in the IT Community with special focus on the Country IT Leaders and Client Services Leaders. Ensure that the local business reality and digital acceleration journey is shared across the IT Community ensuring uplift of both business acumen and digital knowledge in IT.

  • Provide guidance to others on implementing corporate practices while tailoring them to the country/divisions (including but not limited to cybersecurity best practices).

  • Ensure an understanding of the external local market IT innovation ecosystem and support implementation of potential partnerships (e.g. in partnership with the hubs) on both local and global level as applicable in support of the digital and IT strategy realisations.

  • Partner with local business to ensure the mapping and understanding of the external local healthcare ecosystem (including local standards as well as key data sources and data flows) as a key prerequisite for implementation of integrated healthcare and/or data insights solutions
Qualifications







  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Science or Business is required

  • 8-10 year experience in IT management, working with business leadership teams and driving IT strategy, specific IT skills to delivery of IT programs and support processes

  • Working knowledge of MSD’s core business structure and how the IT function contributes to and works within the organization

  • Familiarity with human health commercial operations and go to market strategies

  • Knowledge/experience of development and deployment of innovative solutions in any business domain from conceptualization through delivery

  • Knowledge/experience in Systems Development Life Cycles
