MSD is recruiting a Sales Manager to take primary responsibility for the leadership and effectiveness of a team of Oncology Customer Engagement Specialists. In this critical role you will be accountable for the delivery of Oncology sales performance, for the operational coaching of the team and for the development of effective relationships with key customers. The position is a dedicated resource in the Oncology CBL, manages multiple Customer engagement specialists and reports directly to the Oncology Franchise Lead. The position requires close collaboration with the Marketing and Sales functions to implement the Oncology Business Unit Strategy.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following main tasks:


  • Become market expert by developing deep market, customer, product and competitive insights

  • Ensure a fully resourced and operationally effective Oncology Customer Engagement Specialist team, including team recruitment, product training, capability development, performance management and full compliance with internal processes, SOPs and the Code of Practice

  • Build a world class oncology sales force to support Keytruda; expand sales footprint for subsequent product launches, upon positive registration-enabling clinical trial results, assuring optimum field force size, territory and regions and alignment

  • Establish KPIs in collaboration with the Marketing team; track, monitor and take required action to ensure the delivery of these metrics

  • Through the CES team, establish clear engaging relations with mutually agreed objectives to involve key stakeholders and opinion leaders in targeted activities. Provide the primary point of contact to MSD and the Oncology Business Unit and co-ordinate with the cross functional team to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of key tactical programmes with these stakeholders & opinion leaders

  • Be the link between field and office to deliver robust customer insight to inform and shape strategic decision making

Education and languages:


  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree

  • Professional Fluency in German, French and English. C1 level required for all languages


Professional Experience:


  • Minimum of 4 years of pharmaceutical, preferably in sales leadership

  • Minimum of 2 years Swiss Oncology market experience preferred

  • Pharmaceutical launch experience, preferably in Oncology

  • Documented track record of delivering successful outcomes as a line manager

  • Proven abilitya to provide development coaching

  • Proactive business approach, actively seeking creative and innovative ways to align portfolio products with customer health strategies

  • Proven ability to efficiently work within a project/operational matrix environment

  • Familiarity with business analytics tools and methodology


Required skills and competencies:


  • Client orientation with a demonstrable ability to establish physician thought leader and other relevant stakeholder relationships

  • Motivational acumen via strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to motivate/align action towards a shared vision and strategy

  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix and multi-cultural environment

  • Business knowledge of the Swiss commercial environment, field force best practices/emerging approaches, Oncology market access trends and the Oncology clinical/scientific landscape

  • Results orientation with a proven track record of success for consistently meeting or exceeding sales/quantitative targets and qualitative objectives

  • Analytic ability to evaluate performance data and refine deployment strategies
