The department

As Procurement Site Lead Biotech you are part of the Global Steriles Biologics Operations. You are part of a global procurement team with whom you closely work together.

The position

The Procurement Site Lead Biotech is responsible for executing strategic procurement projects and supporting the site’s operating procurement objectives, ensuring that procedures and processes are securely established to support the site’s growth plans.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Procurement of direct and indirect materials, professional services and MRO for the biotech site in Oss. Primary focus will be in the Direct Materials space. Activities include but are not limited to:
    • Product Sourcing – Sourcing Management Process (SMP) & Project Execution
    • Supplier Performance Management
    • Risk Assessment & Mitigation Planning
    • Cost Improvement Project Identification & Execution
    • Process compliance & that of site stakeholders
    • Stakeholder Engagement
    • KPI Target Achievement & Reporting –Working Capital, Diversity and PPV
  • Understanding and strategically acting on business requirements on a 1/3/5-year horizon.
  • Closely collaborating with global category leads and working with the wider team as well.
  • Driving reliability of supply and cost reductions and implement Supplier Value Management with the key suppliers to foster innovation.
  • Managing supplier performance, establish appropriate governance, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Actively supporting diversity, both within MSD as well as expanding relationships and spend with diverse suppliers.
  • Ensuring that every supplier relationship is established with the intent of future continuous improvement, and lead and manage the measurement and review process to ensure delivery of expectations.
  • Enforcing compliance with all Global Procurement policies and procedures by using a data driven business case approach.
  • Managing relationships with external contacts and ensure that all legal contract requirements are met to ensure optimal performance and to ensure customer satisfaction.


Desired skills & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a
    Science, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Procurement related area
    (preferred in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering).
  • 5 plus years’
    procurement experience, within biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Procurement category
    knowledge with experience in a biologics product manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track records in
    project management and biologics operations scale-up experience.
  • 3 to 5 years experience
    working with senior/executive leaders.
  • Ambitious, dynamic
    individual with proven capabilities to coordinate, prioritise and manage
    multiple projects.
  • Experienced with change
    initiatives and strategy execution in large-scale organisations.
  • Ability to work with
    all levels of business customers in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Needs to possess strong
    written and verbal communication skills and an ability to lead conversations in
    both Dutch & English.
