The MSD International (GmbH) Patient Engagement IT team is focused on building a dynamic understanding of the patient experience that can be consumed by our stakeholders. And co-creatively developing solutions, usually with a digital or partnership component, in the areas of awareness, access, affordability and adherence. 

Our objective is to ensure that we understand and identify unmet needs. We are then responsible for orchestrating the prototyping and testing of solutions. We carefully package our learnings and we shepherd the transfer of knowledge and assets. Your responsibility is to ensure we do that in a way that effectively copes with risks related to compliance while ensuring the timely delivery of the opportunities we're producing to move MSD forward in the area of digital health.

As part of the team, the Consumer / Patient-As-Consumer Design Architect holds the commitment for –designing the experience, and then helping to design and test prototypes that support the experience we are looking to trigger.  You are a team player who is expert with wireframes, mockups, requirements engineering and physical prototypes.  You are a designer with a deep domain knowledge of design principles, and part artist to know when to break the rules. You are conceptual enough to see the big picture and caring enough to explore and produce all of the little things involved in achieving it.
 
You love to collaborate with a wide range of best in breed talent (product managers, marketing managers, strategists, techies, and more). And you have a strong point of view and are comfortable in presenting it. While intensely passionate you are long on execution. You have a sense of urgency and relish the opportunity to put something in front of people to get a reaction. 
 
Your degree in social or behavioral sciences, cognitive sciences, design, graphic arts or the equivalent experience and fluency with Adobe creative suite are part of your toolkit. But you also enjoy and appreciate the physical experience of products and are willing to experiment with other media. You are deeply comfortable with implementing 'mobile first'.
 
You are ready to:
 
Participate in ethnographic analysis to help form reports, personas, scenarios, journey maps, conceptual models, sitemaps, functional flows, and annotated wireframes. 
Plan, produce and co-lead workshops that frame human-centered design, design thinking or consumer experiences; across internal MSD functions and external stakeholders.
Lead a multidisciplinary or cross-functional team that develops the UI/UX as needed, working with market researchers, other designers, product owners and engineers to strategize, prioritize, plan, and execute on initiatives. 
Collaborate on design components with lead iOS, Android and HTML developers.
Manage the design process including researching, planning, prototyping, usability testing and specification. 
Ideate and execute on tactical usability assessments and work collaboratively with ethnographers, other designers, and staff to uncover new customer insights by combining quantitative and qualitative research. 
Contribute user experience best practices and act as an experience evangelist, advocating for consumers of health and representing their needs and perspectives to the entire organization. 
 

Qualifications

Education Level:
Bachelors or advanced degree Sociology, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human-Computer Interaction (HC), Product or Service Design or related fields; or
7-10 years of related experience.

Experience/Technical Skills:
Have 3+ years work experience in an applied user experience design.
Experience and strong working knowledge of user centred design methodologies.
Passionate about research, data and user experience. 
Experience developing customer insights using a combination of qualitative research and quantitative data analysis is highly desired .
Must be organized, able to think beyond what is asked for, act independently, and juggle multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment .
Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work as part of a highly collaborative team: able to listen effectively, respectful of others perspectives and contributions, and able to both offer and accept feedback openly.
Successful record of influencing product design by providing insight into customer behaviours and preferences through effectively communicated findings and potential design solutions inspired by the findings.
Have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
Portfolio of relevant research and design work is required with application for consideration.
