Strategy (50%)

The Strategy Lead is a consultative role; part leader and part doer, with the responsibility of ensuring that execution of the strategy supports the strategy elements.

 Communicating and implementing MSD Taiwan strategy internally and externally so that all employees, partners, suppliers, and contractors understand the company-wide strategic plan and how it carries out the company's overall goals.
 Driving decision-making that creates medium- and long-term improvement.
 Establishing and reviewing key strategic priorities and translating them into a comprehensive strategic plan.
 Developing and facilitating inclusive planning processes.
 Translating strategies into actionable and quantitative plans.
 Monitoring the execution of the strategic plan.
 Facilitating and driving key strategic initiatives through inception phase.
 Ensuring departmental/unit strategic planning projects reflect organizational strategic priorities.
 Partnering with CLT, regional leadership, special committees/teams (e.g., Infinity team), and consultants to support execution of key initiatives.
 Mobilizing and managing (directly or indirectly) teams of individuals charged with executing strategies.
 Acting as a resource across an organization to increase broad cohesion for strategic plans.

The Strategy role has the two basic roles strategy developer and strategy implementer. It normally plays as
 Internal Consultant: focused on strategy formulation.
 Specialist: have specialized skills that are not otherwise present within an organization.
 Coach: work to provide information to strategy creators and facilitate communication between teams, team members and stakeholders.
 Change Agent: facilitate and enable.

BD & Alliance (50%)

 Business Development Strategy & Execution: actualize and execute on the AP strategy of a product/franchise, or applicable CBL by identifying, pursuing, evaluating and executing value-creating business development opportunity
 Due Diligence: Assess new commercial opportunity or strategic partnerships through understanding MSD’s business environment, financial models and primary drivers of valuation in order to make decisions that prioritize favorable deals to pursue.
 Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate with outside parties per MSD approvals, diligence findings and valuation drivers and construct contracts/agreements consistent with MSD guidelines for risk and performance
 Alliance Management: Launch new business arrangement, manage relationships with outside partners through all phases of the contract, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements or other contractual performance metrics.

Qualifications

 BS/BA; MBA Preferred
 A multitude of different commercial and/or consulting experiences
 Agile, fast learning, and growth mindset
 Creative thinker and influential collaborator. Taking balcony view and can wear many hats.
 Good Project management
 Sales and marketing effectiveness or Finance background with commercial acumen
 Strong cross functional & country collaboration with leadership
 Business Development skills including analytical, problem solving, and negotiation
 Impact – achieve results, make sound business decisions
 Able to propose rapid, disciplined decision based upon the deep and logical understanding of the business needs and business opportunities via compiling various views from relevant stakeholders
 Good knowledge of financial analysis and creativity in applying analytical framework
