An exceptional opportunity for an experienced S&E Specialist with specialisation in Industrial Hygiene to join the Environmental Health & Safety team and play an integral role in developing, maintaining and continually improving the EHS systems at MSD’s API / Pharma facility in Ballydine to achieve its goals of Zero Harm, Sustainability and EHS Compliance.


In this position you will be primarily responsible for the development, co-ordination and continual improvement and management of all aspects of the Industrial Hygiene program working with other S&E Specialists and stakeholders.


You will provide technical guidance to the organisation to ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements related to Industrial Hygiene as well as MSD's corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines and industry best practices. In addition, you will work with management to support the overall EHS Management System.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Development and implementation of EHS programmes required to ensure compliance with local legislation, MSD's standards and industry best practices.
  • Preparation of IH Procedures and other related documents.
  • Development of annual IH Monitoring Schedule.
  • PPE Selection and approval as per program requirements.
  • Completion of required risk assessments and incident investigations;
  • Completion of monitoring as per program requirements
  • Provision of guidance to site on all aspects of IH Management.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of IH issues.
  • Completion of EHS Audits and Inspections and support of external audits undertaken by Regulatory agencies or corporate.
  • Liaison with regulatory authorities and corporate stakeholders as required.
  • Preparation of required reports for site, corporate or regulatory agencies as required.
  • Preparation of IH Training materials and delivery of training.
  • Evaluation of the IH applicable requirements for any new projects and processes and changes in the existing processes and infrastructure.
  • Completion of corporate program assessments.
  • Close out of CAPA’s as per agreed timelines and scope.




  • Science, Chemical or Engineering related Degree.
  • Diploma or MSc I Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Specialist IH or equivalent IH Qualification as approved by the Faculty of the British Occupational Hygiene Society.
  • 3+ years’ EHS experience in Pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Handling of Potent API’s and Hazardous Chemicals.
  • Containment Equipment selection and validation.
  • Knowledge of REACH and Strictly Controlled Conditions.
  • Proven track record of success in the EHS sector.
  • Experience on supporting multiple activities/projects.
