The Associate Director of Procurement will afford the successful candidate an opportunity to join a collaborative team to support operations and capital projects of small molecule manufacturing sites, however in keeping with our entrepreneurial organization, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support outsourcing of manufacturing, business development acquisitions and lead cross department/cross functional initiatives. The Associate Director will lead the team to take an active role in the development of global procurement strategy, category management, contract management, risk management and stakeholder management, with a key focus on supplier value management of the suppliers.



Primary activities include, but are not limited to:



  • Leading the site procurement team to support the site operations, including managing the supply of direct and indirect materials, performing the supplier relationship management, suppy risk assessment with actions in place and regular tracking, and stakeholder engagement

  • Collaborating with Global CoEs and SRM teams to implement global sourcing projects and develop sourcing strategies for local managed projects

  • Leading the team to deliver the cost saving target through cross functional collaboration

  • Collaborating with Associate Director, Capital Procurement to establish Capital Construction Services and Execution sourcing strategies for small molecule manufacturing facilities located in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Latin Americas and NA

  • Provide the leadership, strategy and policy for the function by building a high performance engagement model with the business stakeholders in small molecule

  • Outsourcing Manufacturing (including Network Actions), bidding, evaluating proposals, leading make vs. buy analysis, implementing and managing Contract Management organizations

  • Departmental Projects, supporting projects that drive our goals and metrics
Qualifications



  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferably in Engineering, Science or Business

  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical industry or animal health

  • Strong background in strategic sourcing and/or background in direct/indirect materials procurement or Capital Construction Management sourcing or execution

  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous and complex projects requiring frequent communication, organizing/time management and problem solving skills

  • Ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and manage the change required to execute

  • Expert knowledge of technology sourcing activities including RFP development, bid response evaluation, and contract negotiations

  • Strong negotiating and contracting skills essential; global experience

  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to deal with ambiguous and dynamic situation

  • Ability to work with senior management with professionalism and discretion

  • Experience working with internal legal operations

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different disciplines

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and team building abilities and sensitivity to diverse cultures

  • Ability to work independently with minimal coaching
