We are recruiting for our animal health site in Vienna/Austria a
Associate Director, Sourcing (m/f/d) (Full time, permanent)

The Associate Director of Procurement will afford the successful candidate on opportunity join a collaborative team to support operations of small molecule manufacturing sites and manage excipients category across AH sites. However, in keeping with our entrepreneurial organization, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support outsourcing of manufacturing, business development acquisitions and lead cross department/ cross functional initiatives. The Associate Director will lead the team to take an active role in the development of global procurement strategy, category management, contract management, risk management and stakeholder management, with a key focus on supplier value management of the suppliers.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:


Site Procurement Lead:
  • Leading the site procurement team to support the site operations, including managing the supply of direct and indirect materials, performing the supplier relationship management, supply risk assessment with actions in place and regular tracking, and stakeholder engagement
  • Collaborating with Global CoEs and SRM teams to implement global sourcing projects and develop sourcing strategies for local managed projects
  • Leading the team to deliver the cost saving target through cross functional collaboration

Category Leader (if requested):
  • Managing a category (SubCOE) across AH sites, collaborating with Large and Small molecule sites to set up the category strategy and implement the initiatives to secure the supply and drive the cost benefits

Stakeholder Management:
  • Provide the leadership, strategy and policy for the function by building a high-performance engagement model with the business stakeholders in small molecule

Miscellaneous - Incumbent may be asked to support other areas of the business including but not limited to:
  • Outsourcing Manufacturing (including Network Actions) - bidding, evaluating proposals, leading make vs. buy analysis, implementing and managing Contract Management organizations
  • Departmental Projects - Supporting projects that drive our goals and metrics
Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
  • B.A. or S.S. degree preferably in Engineering, Science, or Business

Required Experience and Skills:
  • +5 years of industry experience in Supply Chain / Procurement. Thrives in entrepreneurial environment
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
  • Has demonstrated strong leadership, problem solving, and team building abilities and sensitivity to diverse cultures
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal coaching
  • Able to be the one face of MSD Animal Health to the external party
  • Fluency in German
  • Travel 20%

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Strong background in strategic sourcing and/ or background in Direct/lndirect materials procurement, Sourcing or Execution
  • Animal Health or Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous and complex projects requiring frequent communication, organizing/time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and manage the change required to execute
  • Expert knowledge of technology sourcing activities including RFP development, bid response evaluation, and contract negotiations
  • Experience working with SAP an E-procurement tools
  • Strong negotiating and contracting skills essential; global experience
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to deal with ambiguous and dynamic situation
  • Ability to work with senior management with professionalism and discretion
  • Experience working with internal legal operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different disciplines

The minimum annual salary for this position is EUR 60’000 and varies according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
