Medical Affairs Lead Infectious Diseases (m/f)





Responsibilities





  • Lead a team of 4 employees (MSLs and Medical Advisors)

  • Exchange with healthcare professionals and scientists (HCPs), with emphasis on regional and national scientific leaders and key decision makers

  • Responsible for the team’s scientific activities and performance

  • Owner of the strategic plan and may also provide input and insight based on his/her team interaction with their SLs and other stakeholders’ engagements into the Medical Affairs strategy and ensure that it translates into concrete engagement (action) plans in the field

  • Represent MSD in a range of local, national and international non-promotional Medical Affairs activities

  • Responsibility within the country for the development and execution of the Medical Affairs Plans

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer medical and scientific information exchange with key external and internal stakeholders’ assets

  • Proposing local data generation study concepts and – if prioritized and funded - ensures HQ approval through appropriate governance

  • Accountability for on-time local study execution, analysis and publication

  • Build trust with the external scientific community via peer-to-peer engagement with scientific leaders and executes country advisory boards and expert input forums to remain on the leading edge of therapeutic and patient care advances

  • Collaborating successfully and leads resolution of regulatory, reputational, ethical, and other asset management issues in country 

  • Develop and execute Country Medical Affairs Plan for assigned franchise(s)

  • Responsibility for life-cycle management budget(s) for assigned products (planning, tracking)

  • Communicate both scientific and business needs credibly, appropriately and effectively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels 

  • Provide therapeutic/functional training to assigned teams and affiliate functions

  • Budget Planning and Resource Management 

  • Organizing regular team meetings for relevant trainings, sharing of best practices, reinforcing on compliance matters and discuss therapeutic area strategies
Qualifications



  • Medical Degree or/and PhD, preferably with clinical knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas

  • Solid industry experience in Medical Affairs is required and therapeutic area experience is desirable 

  • Previous experience as an MSL/Medical Advisor is required 

  • People management experience is strongly preferred 

  • Demonstrated people and team leadership skills

  • Project management as well as listening and coaching skills would be preferred 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific strategy into tactical and implementation plans as well as to create a working environment which fosters employee engagement 

  • Ability to work in high performance teams, and in a matrix organization

  • Ability to negotiate and influence others 

  • Excellent team player; must excel at teamwork in cross-functional groups. Must be able to interact successfully with a variety of individuals at the local level, including Medical Advisors working in different therapeutic areas, research division, commercial teams and contract research organizations (CROs)

  • Experience of local pharmaceutical industry guidelines, regulatory/reimbursement framework and clinical research guidelines 

  • Developing a network of scientific leaders and successful interactions with other key stakeholders (public groups, government officials, medical professional organizations) in therapy areas 

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate information at country management level, with public groups and to scientific leaders 

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (written as well as oral)

  • Fluent in German and business proficient in English

The minimum annual salary for this position is EUR 65.900,-- and varies according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
