We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Senior Specialist for our manufacturing site in Vienna.
Reporting to the Associate Director EHS, the Senior Specialist will be responsible for specific environmental health and safety programs and compliance for the manufacturing site Vienna, Austria. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of pharmaceutical professionals, translating safety relevant information into best practices, communicating across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following main tasks:

  • Provide technical support and coordination in defining and implementing site EHS systems for the site.

  • Prioritize EHS related risks, develop, and assist with implementing corrective and preventive action plans.

  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities and effectively collaborate across the organization to leverage best practices and drive continuous improvement efforts

  • Ensures ongoing evaluation of changes in Safety Regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures that site systems are in place to maintain compliance with all EHS regulations and programs

  • Develop, implement and deliver effective EHS-related training programs for both management and employees

  • Provide technical support for new projects and modifications to ensure proper EHS design review, as well as routine /maintenance evaluation after process / equipment installed / implemented.

  • Conduct inspections of work places and practices, as required, for conformance with Site, Corporate and/or Statutory safety requirements


  • Higher education in an environmental or safety related technical discipline

  • Professional certification as Safety Engineer (Sicherheitsfachkraft) is a prerequisite

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role

  • Previous experience contributing to cross-functional projects

  • Documented knowledge of EU and Austrian EHS laws and regulatory framework

  • Robust skills interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks

  • Proven understanding of the processes, equipment and methods associated in the manufacturing industry; Lean/Six Sigma experience advantageous

  • Experience with fire safety guidelines and regulations is a plus

  • Proven ability to develop sustainable professional relationships on all levels of the organization

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • High ethical standards, being a role model of business compliance and integrity

  • Proven ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain business results

  • Demonstrated analytical and logical problem solving abilities

  • Flexibility to perform multiple, complex tasks simultaneously to efficiently support the business

  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English

The minimum annual salary for this position is EUR 50’000 and varies according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
