Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Senior Specialist (m/f/d)


Full-time, as soon as possible


Together with other members of the EHS team, the Senior Specialist will be responsible for specific environmental health and safety programs and compliance for our manufacturing site Vienna, Austria.The EHS senior Specialist will report to the EHS Team lead. Responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following main tasks:


  • Provide technical support and coordination in defining and implementing site EH&S systems for the site. This entails guiding and directing site support efforts, communicating to the site staff and sub groups and providing in addition to obtaining site EH&S inputs where required.
  • Prioritize EH&S related risks and develop and assist with implementing corrective action and preventive action plans. Monitor and communicate overall status of plans to Site Management.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with other EHS staff/ Engineering/and Operations personnel to leverage best practices and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensures ongoing evaluation of changes in Safety Regulatory requirements. Develops and implements site positions and strategies to ensure 100% compliance with all current and future safety requirements as and when they arise.
  • Ensures that site systems are in place to maintain 100% site compliance with all Safety and Environmental Regulations and Programs and are aligned with global safety and environment expectations.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication processes to ensure management, occupational health, and affected employees understand the workplace hazards, exposures, and accompanying risks, as well as the needed control strategies.
  • Establish exposure control strategies for chemical and physical hazards and personally execute Industrial Hygiene monitoring (quantitative measuring) based on annual exposure assessment plans.
  • Provide technical support for new projects and modifications to ensure proper EH&S design review, as well as routine /maintenance evaluation after process / equipment installed / implemented.
  • Conduct independent inspections of facilities and practices, as required, for conformance with Site, Corporate and/or Statutory safety requirements. Ensures Operations are carried out in accordance with required standards of safety and in adherence to all relevant Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective EH&S-related training programs for both management and employees.
Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is of strong advantage (chemical engineering, chemistry, Laboratory training, mechanical or electrical engineering etc.).
  • Relevant professional certification(s) in a safety or environment related discipline.
  • Experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Documented knowledge of EU and EHS laws and regulatory framework.
  • Proven ability to develop sustainable cooperative professional relationships on all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • High ethical standards, being a role model of business compliance and integrity.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain business results.
  • Demonstrated analytical and logical problem solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to perform multiple, complex tasks simultaneously to efficiently support the business.
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
  • Willingness to learn new skills (e.g. Industrial Hygiene)


Preferred Experience and Skills:


  • Lean/Six Sigma experience desirable.
  • Vision and sound judgment; ability to develop strategy and execute tactically.
  • Robust skills interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks such as EU OSHA, OHSAS 18000, EPA, ISO, NFPA, GMP.
  • Robust skills interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks.
  • Previous experience in leading project teams with and/or without managerial responsibility is advantageous.
  • Clear and recognizable understanding of the processes, equipment and methods associated with Biologics and Sterile manufacturing.


The minimum annual salary for this position is EUR 55’000 and varies according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
