 Safety and environment Specialist
Description
An exceptional opportunity for an experienced Safety & Environment Specialist to join the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team; where they will play an integral role in developing, maintaining and continually improving the EHS systems at our facility in Xochimilco, Mexico.
He/she will provide technical guidance to the organization to ensure compliance with legal requirements related to EHS as well as MSD's corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines related to EHS and industry best practices. Focus on Ambiental but capable to work as a generalist on EHS.
He/she will provide technical guidance to the organization to ensure compliance with legal requirements related to EHS as well as MSD's corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines related to EHS and industry best practices.
He/she will ensure, in conjunction with the EHS team, that all EHS regulatory requirements on the site are upheld to the highest standard.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with local legislation, MSD's standards, our environmental licenses and industry best practices including programs such as: waste, air and water management, incident investigation, chemical management and emergency response
Ensure that all environmental license requirements are met
Assist all departments in achieving and establishing compliance.
Demonstrate leadership and a strong desire to protect employees, our community and the environment – leading with a ’safety first’ mindset.
Prepare reports to site, divisional and/or corporate management and regulatory agencies.
Evaluate all EHS applicable requirements for any new projects and processes (along with other site departments where necessary) as well as changes in the existing processes and installation.
Conduct annual site self-assessments, and more frequent operating unit assessments, tracking and directing follow-up activities to correct any non-conformity.
Interpersonal
Team player, capable of working within a multi functionary team environment; and to periodically lead teams.
Enthusiastic with a strong drive for results.
Self-directed, capable of using own initiative to make EHS improvements.
Dedicated to maintaining high standards, with the courage and candor to ensure things are done properly onsite – ‘right first time.’

Qualifications

Qualifications

Experience

3+ years’ EHS experience in Pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industry.

Proven track record of success in the EHS sector, with focus on Environmental Matters.

Experience on supporting multiple activities/projects.

Primary Bachelor’s Degree in EHS or Technical Primary Bachelor’s Degree with a post-grad EHS qualification is required.

Technically strong; with understanding and experience of environmental licences.

Innovative & Compliance-minded, with the drive to go seek out necessary information.
