Responsible for leading effective relationships with key suppliers to provide best quality at the lowest total cost of ownership by identifying and executing performance improvement initiatives. Effectively lead and develop strategic sourcing and supplier management processes to achieve company goals of securing continuity of material (direct or/and indirect) supplies and services, reducing total cost of ownership, improving supplier quality, managing inventory and establishing external partnerships to accelerate innovation. Champion key Procurement activity within the site while supporting the global category strategies.


 


Strategic Sourcing
Key Objective: Lead category management strategies that provide best quality materials/services at lowest total cost of ownership.



  • Analyze Spend: Deploy appropriate methodologies in execution of in-depth analyses (supplier assessments, financial/market analyses) in support of sourcing strategy development.

  • Assess and Execute Opportunities: Collect and utilize market intelligence to identify and implement opportunities and collaborate internally and externally to identify leverage points.

  • Define Site Sourcing Strategies: Define multi-year sourcing strategies aligned to the Global Category strategies. Develop business cases for source change projects and garner stakeholder support and commitment.

  • Optimize Supplier Network: Ensure optimization of supply base to achieve maximum relationship value based on Market Intelligence & linked to Global Category strategies.

  • Conduct RFx’s: Draft requests for competitive bids & conduct bidding process. Deploy e-Sourcing tools where appropriate. Evaluate results & make sourcing decisions

  • Lead Supplier Selection and Qualification: Align sourcing decisions to strategic supplier base. Support/Lead supplier-initiated change projects. . Ensure all due diligence completed prior to recommendation, including documentation. Present proposal to Source Recommendation Committee Work with Supply Chain team on inventory build-up to facilitate transition during supplier changes.

  • Lead Supply Negotiations and Contract Development: Deploy contract excellence strategies and best-in-class, knowledge-based negotiation strategies.

  • Implement Contract: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (plants) and legal department to implement compliant agreements

Supplier Management

Key Objective: Improve performance & capability of significant external supply sources.



  • Measure & Communicate Performance: Through defined processes, monitor and communicate supplier performance against established metrics. Develop and execute improvement plans for supplier performance in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Develop & Implement Cost Improvements: Collaborate internally and externally and utilize market intelligence to achieve total cost reductions and to outperform market conditions. Deliver break through level of savings and value. Achieve total spend management.

  • Manage Contracts: Track supplier performance against contractual commitments. Ensure obligations are fulfilled (Confidentiality Agreement, Commercial & Supply Agreement, Disaster Recovery Agreement).

  • Perform Benchmarking: Utilize internal & external resources & data sources to identify benchmarks. Develop action plans to achieve benchmark in assigned commodity.

  • Supply Chain Integration: Identify and lead lean deployment at supplier opportunities

  • Supplier Improvement: Ensure suppliers meet all compliance requirements. Partner with relevant stakeholders and Supplier Quality to improve supplier performance.

  • Supplier Enabled Innovation: Gather stakeholder unmet needs. Collaborate with suppliers to identify solutions. Support globally harmonized process.

Other Responsibilities :



  • Track, Analyze and Report : Purchase Price Variance, cost improvement project (CIP) and inflation results, payment terms, supplier’s delivery performance metrics. Develop & implement strategies to mitigate forecasted inflation.

  • Participate in business planning process through inflation and standard setting.

  • Develop multi-year strategies to achieve annual spending goals.

  • Develop and manage business continuity & strategic capacity plans.

  • Support plant operational procurement in the escalation of supplier-related issues.

  • Participate on monthly global Category meeting with global category teams and ensure strategic alignment.

  • Ensure activities are in compliance with regulatory agencies and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.

  • Participate in regulatory and customer audits including fielding inquiries by auditors/inspectors regarding supplier management process.

  • Ensure compliance with Procurement Code of Conduct and good business ethics. Competitive bidding must be performed fairly and objectively, including all the required due diligence activities .

  • Enhance supplier relationship with collaboration with the functional areas. Key objective to bring value creation to the business through suppliers

  • Will be required to build and maintain external supplier and industry networks

  • Will interface with functional groups outside the Global Procurement team to influence change, decision making and garner function specific support from Technical, Finance, Legal, Global Category leaders, R&D etc

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Supply Chain/Procurement/Materials Management is required. Fresh graduate is encouraged to apply
• Master’s Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Materials Management would be a plus.

Experience:
• At least 5 to 8 years’ experience in sourcing of direct or/and indirect materials such as APIs, Chemicals or Packaging Material, MRO, including experience working in manufacturing of highly regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of sourcing strategies, procurement processes and supplier development with quantifiable results and value creation
• Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and associated GMP compliance requirements. Able to apply this knowledge to identify process enhancement opportunities
• Able to balance global sourcing strategies and mandate with local business and operational requirements
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Ability to engage, align and lead diverse and dispersed organizations and functions. Ability to lead negotiations, influence and lead without direct line authority. Ability to engage others and lead an organization through continuous improvement and change management
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required
• Experience within Pharmaceutical or Health Care Industry is an asset
