Job Purpose:

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for execution of Scheduling, detailed capacity management and direct materials planning & order execution for the IPT. The focus activities include:

  • Creates and updates the IPT production schedule for tactical short term horizon (e.g 0-2 months) and chairs the Operations Firm Plan (FPO) meeting with relevant stakeholders (weekly and/or monthly)

  • Maintains lead-time, capacity and detailed production (0-2 mth) plans via a pre-defined formal routine process using DATA3/SAP systems

  • Maintains and renews planning data and parameters in ERP systems (including: BOM, Material Master data, routing, and work centre) and ensures that standard work processes are strictly adhered to

  • Ensures that production in the firm period meets agreed customer demands.Develops and ensures that rhythm wheel and constant make is communicated and executed by IPT.Create and maintains period production lists, process/work orders, batch sheets and supporting execution of floor schedule as part of the daily walk through

  • In alignment with Production schedule, oversees customer sales order execution with and for production operations through Quality (release) and D&L.Escalates regularly any delivery related issues to Master Planner and Planning lead

  • Ensures that IPT Tier visual systems reflect required accurate information as specified

GMP Responsibilities, Supply Chain Risk & Compliance:

Required to comply with MSD Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day-to-day activities and all applicable job functions.

  • Responsible for:

    • Attending and successfully completing applicable GMP training, including training in local operating procedures.  Responsible to ensure that this training is accurately recorded in training records.All training is in compliance with procedures relevant to the role/activity.

    • Understands and manages SOPs to ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory standards.

    • Support any EHS or Quality Compliance regulatory audits as required.

    • Ensures Safety and Quality policies and guidelines are followed by all colleagues within Supply Chain function. Responsible for bringing to the attention of management any violation in cGMPs and/or other concerns which may affect the safety of People or the safety of product; efficacy, or purity of MSD product.

    • Ensure Safety Investigations, Quality Investigations and Deviations are fully investigated with actions implemented to continually improve processes and prevent recurrence.

    • Ensures Quality Systems are developed and maintained, with appropriate management and ownership (including Permanent Inspection Readiness.)

    • Ensures GMP, Safety and technical training takes place.

    • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain distribution lines and regulatory requirements to enable product transportation.

    • Other activities/projects as deemed appropriate by the IPT leader


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management Other degrees in Chemistry, (Micro) Biology, Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).  Supply Chain Management with relevant Pharmaceutical Operations experience is a plus.

  • Lean x,CMctfctnsnvte

  • APICS or CPIM, CSCP, CPM certification preferred

Knowledge Requirements:

  • MSD costing system (inc. product standards), renewal process at site and APHUB and Market Knowledge

  • Pareto, OEE, Lean - Kanbans, IRLs, CT, Inventory control, impact of variability, Op Ex tools and techniques, Walk Through, Error risk reduction, IPT Business Acumen, 5S, Workplace organization and Visual Management.

  • Awareness of Manufacturing and Packaging Processes and Equipment, Event management, Awareness Quality systems - MSD and Regulatory, Change Control, Qualification & Validation processes, Safety Risk Assessments, write of procedures, rework process and SOPs, SOP system, Suppliers, contacts and purchasing strategy, Site Safety and cGMP.
