(Associate) Scientist – Global Poultry R&D



 


 


About the role
As an (Associate) Scientist you will be working in a project team in one or more research projects for the development of poultry vaccines and you will report to a project leader. You will be involved in test development and the design and performance of (animal) studies.


 


 



Responsibilities




  • Participate in one or more of our virological, bacteriological or parasitic research and development projects for poultry vaccines


  • Planning, execution and reporting of studies in collaboration with a project leader


  • Design, development and validation of new in-vitro or in-vivo test methods


  • Maintain contacts with other departments involved in the vaccine development (production, quality control and animal research departments)


  • Running studies according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Safety Health and Environment (SHE) compliance requirements


  • Interacting closely with team members within own and other departments

The Animal Health R&D organization for the development of biologicals is organized in five Species groups (Aquatic, Companion Animals, Poultry, Ruminants and Swine) and Discovery and Technology (D&T).


The Poultry Biologicals R&D department has global responsibility for the development of new vaccines for chickens. We develop inactivated, live, and genetically modified vaccines for all regions in the world. The team is based in Europe and in the US and we are now looking for an (associate) scientist to be based in our research facility in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.

Qualifications

Your profile




  • A Bachelor degree (HLO) or Master degree in the subject area


  • Experience in laboratory techniques in the areas of virology, molecular biology, or bacteriology


  • Affinity or experience with vaccine development


  • Experience with GLP and SHE requirements is an advantage


  • Good communication and documentation skills


  • Excellent team player
