MSD BIOTECH, DUBLIN

The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech Dublin, will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The Learning Specialist will help define, develop, and facilitate all learning and development plans and activities for particular client group(s) within the site in support of the site’s learning strategy and Annual Learning Plan. This individual will partner will their clients to implement and ensure adherence to the site’s learning processes/system and will work with their peers to continuously improve the learning processes through to foster a continuous learning environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Establishes relationships with and partners with client group(s) to understand the business goals/objectives and collaboratively defines appropriate learning strategies for client area.

  • Conducts learning needs assessments and/or job analyses with client to identify relevant learning plans and solutions.

  • With the business, implements learning strategy/plans (inclusive of job and functional skills) for business client. Monitors progress with appropriate documentation and metrics and defines opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Implements standard learning processes for client group; ensures ongoing adherence through coaching and appropriate use of metrics.

  • Works collaboratively within the Learning organization to implement, maintain and continuously improve standard site learning processes (i.e., Job Skills Qualification, SOP Process, Annual GMP, Safety Programs and New Employee Onboarding).

  • Ensures client is in Permanent Inspection Readiness and cGMP Compliance as it relates to Training/Learning & Development.

  • Support any Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) or Quality Compliance regulatory audits as required.

  • Collaborate with Global Learning and Development, Learning Support Services and other manufacturing sites to implement best practices.


REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Learning Specialist will report to the Site Learning Lead.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

General



  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Production Systems

  • Expert level in Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Strong in analysing data, building metrics, and using visualisation tools.

  • Working knowledge and application of Instructional Design, Adult Learning Principles, and Evaluation Methodologies

Technical



  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience


People



  • Working Across Boundaries: Demonstrates an understanding of how one’s job responsibilities contribute to the departments goals and a knowledge of the business’s core strategy for long-term success.

  • Fosters Interpersonal Relationships & Collaboration: Actively listens and seeks to understand differing perspectives; work together to achieve the common goals of MSD. Demonstrated skill in applying approaches, tools, and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner, including the ability to build and maintain critical networks and collaborative relationships.

  • Productive Communications (Oral & Written): Ability to distribute accurate information and craft messages for appropriate target audiences, with guidance if needed. Speaks and writes clearly and concisely with the ability to select the appropriate form of communication to share information.


Education



  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
