Organizational Context:

The biological critical reagents hub in Oss, the Netherlands is part of the Global Quality unit of MSD. The BCR Hub must ensure adequate quality systems are in place to support the manufacture, packaging, testing, storage, and distribution of BCRs according to our manufacturing division Policies, Guidelines & Procedures and regulatory requirements by appropriate oversight and monitoring.



Job Purpose:


This technical function contributes to critical activities of the BCR
team to support the storage of Biological Critical Reagents (BCRs) and Critical
Raw Materials (CRMs) in Controlled Temperature Units (CTUs), e.g.:

  • Responsible for coordinating
    the timely calibration, temperature mapping and maintenance of 15
    Controlled Temperature Units (CTUs) and other critical equipment related
    to the BCR Hub. Coordination
    includes planning of the activities performed by several third parties,
    arranging work permits when applicable and final approval on supporting reports
    and documentation;
  • Responsible for logbooks and
    alarm management related to the CTUs;
  • Responsible for capacity
    analyses of the CTUs in order to support incoming controls of BCRs/CRMs;
  • Project lead for the upcoming
    introduction and qualification of 11 new CTUs (2019 project);
  • Representative for
    the Hub with respect to work permits, repairs and maintenance;
  • Initiates, supports
    and leads deviation management process related to CTUs and Inventory
    Management, including Root cause analysis and CAPA definition and execution;
  • Executes purchasing
    and incoming controls of CRMs and BCRs and other Inventory Management related

Key Activities:

  • Responsible for timely execution of qualification and maintenance of Controlled Temperature Units (CTUs);
  • Responsible for capacity analyses of CTUs;
  • Responsible for incoming controls of purchased materials and qualified BCRs;
  • Maintains BCRs inventory up to date in inventory database;
  • Carries out orderings for BCRs which need to be purchased, as well as other materials;
  • Performs Electronic Management System and logbook checks;
  • Ensures adequate alarm management including consignment plan;
  • Is representative for the Hub with respect to work permits, repairs and maintenance;
  • Participates in and/or leads Tier 1.

Continuous Improvement

  •  Signals problems/opportunities within the BCR hub.
  • Participates in projects as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Participates in or leads improvement projects
  • Monitors progress and effort/benefit ratio of individual improvement projects within the group.
  • Applies LSS /MPS knowledge

Change Control 

  • Acts as the change owner for equipment changes.

Tier Processes

  •  Develops visuals and maintains indicators for the Tier board.
  • Gives directions/instructions to colleagues.




  • Writes, reviews and modifies Inventory Management and Person In Charge related documents instructions and procedures (E.g. controlled job aids, checklists for maintenance/calibration);
  • Initiates, supports and leads deviation process, including Root cause analysis and CAPA definition and execution;
  • Adheres to GxP rules and safety guidelines.




  • Responsible for actively contribution to realization of corporate policy on safety, health and environment. Demonstrate personal commitment with respect to working safely, healthy and environmentally friendly.


Education, skills & competences and experience


  • At minimum bachelor’s degree (HBO/HLO) in chemistry / biochemistry, engineering or similar;
  • Proven experience in equipment installation, qualification and maintenance;
  • Ability to keep overview of tasks and set priorities;
  • Passion for continuous improvement;
  • Knowledge of quality and compliance guidelines and manufacturing processes;
  • Computer literacy knowledge (e.g. MS Office);
  • Team work oriented;
  • Flawless Integrity Mindset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written;
  • Dutch and English
