The organization
Quality Operations (around 100 people) at MSD Biotechnology Operations Oss has the following five sub-functions: Quality Assurance, Quality Systems, Quality IPT, Quality Control and Biological Critical Reagents Hub. The Quality Department must ensure adequate quality systems are in place to support the manufacture, packaging, testing, storage, and distribution of products according to corporate policies, Guidelines, Procedures and regulatory requirements by appropriate oversight and monitoring.

The Position
Reporting into the Laboratory Supervisor the Lab Technician will be responsible for execution of release, stability, and in process tests with subsequent reporting, trending, verification and approval of raw data. He/ she plans, executes and reports routine and non-routine analytical tests and non-analytical tasks according to instructions and guidelines. He/ she provides support for QNs. and additionally he/ she is involved in Root Cause investigations, troubleshoot activities including performing investigation testing and involved in subsequent follow-up actions.

Next to that the Lab Technician – Quality Control provides support as a Subject Matter Expert for specific analytical techniques and is the Person in charge (PIC) and responsible for BCR, consumables and chemicals management. He/ she is also responsible for sample shipments, sample distribution and consignment services, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and BHV (bedrijfshulpverlening) deputies. The Lab Technician performs as a 1st line troubleshooting for testing activities.

As part of the role the Lab Technician - Quality Control will also be responsible for:

Quality Strategy

  • Routine and non-routine in-proces testing, release testing, stability and BCR testing.

  • Signals problems/ improvement opportunities within group/ laboratory.

  • Participates in and leads Yellow Belt improvement projects.

  • Writes, reviews and modifies procedures and instructions within own discipline(s).


  • Adheres to GxP rules and safety guidelines.

  • Writes, reviews and modifies technical reports, instructions and procedures within own discipline(s).

  • Responsible for regular maintenance of lab equipment.


  • Participates in cross-functional/global teams.

Problem solving

  • Analytical support to commercial products (e.g. technical support/trouble shooting).

Administration and documentation

  • Assures that raw data are documented, verified and validated.

  • Provides supports for QNs, follow up on QNs, CAPAs and Change Control.

  • Vocational degree (MBO), preferably MLO or comparable;

  • Around three years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry;

  • Good knowledge of cGMP and several other (analytical) techniques;

  • Knowledge of and experience with GMP;

  • Keeps knowledge up-to-date with new (analytical) developments in the BT field via On-the-Job Training (OJT), courses etcetera;

  • Strong focus on clients;

  • Teamplayer;

  • If needed able to work outside of office hours;

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and team work oriented;

  • Passion for continuous improvement;

  • Computer literacy knowledge;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) in Dutch and English.
