This challenging opportunity will support our Global ERP program-COMET (Collaborating as One Merck to Enable Transformation).  The program's scope includes: Order to Cash (OTC), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Source to Settle (STS), Finance Business Management (FBM) and Human Capital Management/Human Resources (HCM/HR). Having completed global business blueprint activities, the team is currently focusing on the solution design. Merck will deploy this solution to its worldwide businesses.


This role will report to the Director - Global Order to Cash (OtC) Process-Configuration.  The incumbent will be responsible for the translation of new business requirements into functional/technical design of the global SAP template. In this role you will support the design and configuration of SAP Order to Cash which includes order management, global logistics, global trade compliance and Billing and Accounts Receivable solution sets, testing execution and write functional documentation.  Successful candidate is also responsible for deploying a system that meets the business strategy across functional teams.  In this role, you will communicate and coordinate with business management, project executives and team leads to insure appropriate integration of processes and modules across the organization.


The incumbent must have hands on configuration experience coupled with technical knowledge in the Sales Distribution/Order Management and Billing/Accounts Receivable, Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) Modules of SAP. 


Areas of expertise may include:  Nota Fiscal Electronica, EDI and Einvoicing, distribution and logistics, trade compliance, Revenue Recognition, billing copy control, SD/FI interfaces, credit card processing, account summarization, accounts receivable lockbox, credit management, order management processes, sales order pricing, delivery processing, contracts, outputs, cash application as well as cross functional integration with BI, StS, FBM and SCM teams in a global SAP ECC 6.0 environment to include but not limited to:


•  Communicate and collaborate with the functional project manager, and/or division heads of assigned area, in an effort to support the business needs of the company.

•  Review and approve resolution to system deviations.

•  Review and approve supporting documentation of end-user requests for reports, changes in functionality, enhancements, reorganizations and changes in master data.

•  Work closely with training lead to review and approve curricula, courses and lessons and reviews and provides input to proposed training schedule

•  Work closely with process stewards on global demand, prioritization and capacity utilization planning.


Assist the Leadership while managing the Global shared services model- Handling Incident management, providing end user support, handling minor and major Business Process enhancements, Release/ system upgrades in a highly regulatory compliance oriented/ validated environment.

Position Qualifications:


 •        Bachelor of Science (BS) is required.

 •        Fluent english is mandatory. 


Required Experience and Skills:

  • SAP knowledge must be highly focused, possessing in-depth knowledge of the capabilities within the assigned area (SD, B&AR, FSCM  Revenue Recognition, billing copy control, SD/FI interfaces, credit card processing, credit management, Nota Fiscal Electronica, order management processes, sales order pricing, delivery processing, contracts, outputs, cash application and Cross functional knowledge related to FBM/STS/SCM ).     

  • Deep dive SAP Brazil configuration/processes skills are strongly preferred.

  • Experience in the design, configuration, implementation, and integration of order management, billing and accounts receivable, financial supply chain management, credit control and cash application.

  • Ability to write and Validate functional Specification Documents with a need to communicate with other functional/technical areas as well as Legacy systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of configuring Business Processes in a highly regulated environment

  • Setting up of  User Security Roles / Profile in SAP while ensuring Regulatory Compliance

  • Design and Configuration  of Inter Company Business Processes in SAP

  • Experience in utilizing multiple software technologies such as Solution Manager, OSS, Sharepoint and Remedy toolsets.

  • Understanding of multi-currency accounts and impacts of document currency and local currency on FI-AR postings and output formats.

  • Knowledge of external tax packages for tax and VAT calculations.

  • Excellent customer relationship management capabilities coupled with both excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

  • Exposure to production support lifecycle and ability to drive problems to resolution.

  • Candidate will utilize prioritization, analytical and problem solving skills to achieve results.

  • Help drive system and business efficiencies.

  • Involvement in demand/change management processes.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in SAP Sales/Distribution, Global Logistics, Trade Compliance and Billing/Accounts Receivable.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of SAP implementation experience from design to test is required. 

  • A minimum of two full Life Cycle Implementations with emphasis as Subject Matter Expert  in SAP Brazil solution.

  • Five (5) years or more years of experience in the Life Science industry.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 15 to 20% during specific projects.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of SAP Brazil for Order to Cash will be a plus.

  • Experience in FDA regulated environment(s) will be a plus

  • Project Systems experience a plus.

  • SAP Certification within SCM-SD, B&AR, Global Logistics, GTS, Nota Fiscal Electronica area is a plus.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 15 to 20% during certain projects

  • SAP certification and/ or extensive experience in areas of SAP portal and Ecommerce solutions.

  • Deep understanding of SAP Brazil for Order to Cash will be a plus.

  • Experience in FDA, ANVISA or similar Federal Bureau regulated environment(s) will be a plus
