MSD BALLYDINE
MSD Ballydine develops and supplies the active ingredients and final formulated product for a range of innovative medicines at its manufacturing and R&D facilities. The plant, which has been operating in Tipperary for over 40 years, exports to over 25 countries around the world with primary markets being Europe, USA and Japan.
Our highly-skilled local workforce of 500 employees is now leading the way in the development of new medicines, including MSD’s treatment for hepatitis C, which is being manufactured in Tipperary for patients around the world.

& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES



  • Ensuring that all quality testing activities comply with cGMP. Act as lead auditee/subject matter expert in the area of API Drug substance. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements. Ensure compliance in the area of Human resource management.

  • Lead a team of analysts/technicians. Ensure training is maintained and implement where appropriate SOP/Procedure/System training. Develop structures to allow personnel to work together in a productive and challenging environment. Mentor laboratory personnel and provide input and coaching on professional development and career paths. Provide timely feedback and evaluates performance of direct reports. Addresses lower performances and ensure improvements.

  • Act as key participant in ADC leadership Team supporting leadership and management of the whole ADC department. Support union interactions as required.

  • Deputise for the ADC API Lab Leader in event of absence. Work in conjunction with the other Team Leaders to ensure that the priority items for the ADC API group are met.

  • Leading laboratory activities in the area of Raw Materials/in-process, Intermediates/AP to ensure that customer service targets are met.

  • Compile and complete all required laboratory metrics

  • Support the analytical testing required to release API by planning the testing and review to meet Quality release requirements to support supply chain shipments.

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the area of laboratory activities. Lead OOS investigations and troubleshooting activities in the laboratory in support of analytical investigations.

  • Participate in and lead departmental initiatives on improving compliance and laboratory systems. Provide leadership to initiatives to optimise business systems and improve productivity in analytical areas.

  • Ensure all follow up actions are completed in timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS


Technical:
Be proficient in the following GMP and cGMP training topics



  • Analytical Method validation & Transfer

  • Change Control system and Material Control impact assessments

  • Laboratory Deviation management

  • Laboratory layout and design

  • Laboratory Analytical Methods and Instrumentation

  • Current Laboratory Regulatory, Safety and Environmental regulations/Requirements

  • Laboratory Documentation systems

  • Computer skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP, LIMS, Empower, Trackwise & Laboratory scheduling software.

  • Organization and planning skills

  • Meetings management skills

  • Have knowledge of GMP standards

  • Have knowledge Laboratory safety standards

  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong documentation skills are required.

  • Must be motivated, focused and technically strong.


Business:



  • Must have the ability to work in partnership with personnel within the Laboratory as well as with personnel from other sections within the ADC Department and also other departments across the site such as IPT Production, IPT Technical Group, PDC, Quality, and Supply Chain.

  • Must have the ability to work in partnership with other MSD Sites, External Manufacturing, Customers and Suppliers.

  • Must have strong Technical report writing skills.

  • Must have the ability to plan and schedule multiple activities at one time.

Educational Requirements:



  • Minimum of BSc in Chemistry or related discipline
