MSD BIOTECH, DUBLIN

The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech Dublin, will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for supporting the start-up of MSD Biotech Dublin. They will guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems. Working with our Engineering Team and with other Site Groups in the development of our site Asset Management Programs they will identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations. They will also measure asset performance and develop cross functional forums to review and analysis data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and own the digital road map for the site Engineering Department.
  • Design and implement tools such as Performance and Status Dashboards, mining data from multiple systems to provide insights for the Engineering Department.
  • Collect effective and efficient system and asset data.
  • Minimise equipment downtime and failures by decreasing errors and increasing the usage of data analytics.
  • Analyse and apply appropriate analytics techniques to work through both legacy data sets and real-time streams of data to improve overall system performance and reliability.
  • Create tools for decision making, development and design of digital information systems though structured understanding of equipment functionality, process performance and desired digital operating model.
  • Ensure digital models and systems represent an accurate model-based definition, identifying all critical inputs and outputs for systems.
  • Provide models that can capture equipment performance from design to sustainability.
  • Use data visualisations tools and software to present data in an easy to use manner for other members of the Engineering Department.

Will report to Engineering - Centre of Excellence Lead.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

General
  • Engineering qualification with 4+ year’s experience, some of which needs to be in reliability role.
Technical
  • Knowledge and interest in data analytics, modelling and digital information systems
  • Experience with building data models and interfacing different sources of data
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring methods and systems
  • Knowledge / Interest in the development of prescriptive and predictive maintenance
  • Knowledge of analysing sensor data and troubleshooting remotely and in person
  • Interest in machine learning and augmented reality
  • Data visualisation and presentation
  • SQL and Statistical Programming

People
  • Excellent organising and planning skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and a critical thinker
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a cross functional collaborative environment
  • High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Confidence to respond positively when under pressure

Education
  • At minimum a Level 8 qualification in engineering in Engineering, Science or IT.
