The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin. The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

MSD Biotech Dublin will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments, Keytruda and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

Ours MSD Biotech facility in Dublin is now seeking experienced Manufacturing Technologists in both Upstream and Downstream Commercial large-scale Drug Substance manufacture.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the management of the Logistics (Cold Chain logistics/ shipping/trade compliance) operations carried out on the MSD Biotech site in support of the customer service targets. In addition, supports the Global Logistics Management Team and plays a key role in the development supply chain best practices for the MSD Biotech site & other operations throughout the EMEA region.


• Ensures that customer service, import/export and shipping operations are performed in conformance with site, corporate and EU legislative safety, quality and environmental compliance standards.
• Works with Planners to ensure that the site meets the customer requirements
• In the event of a transport emergency, the incumbent is leader of the Plant Transport Emergency Response Team.
• Provides oversight for the site Dangerous Goods Safety Programme including liaison with consultant DGSA who fulfils the ADR regulatory requirement.
• Ensures procurement and sales invoicing/shipping complies with the relevant divisional financial guidelines and national/international requirements governing tax, duty, country of origin, Incoterms, etc. Completes financial adjustments and supports the monthly Intrastat & VIES trade statistics reports for Revenue as required
• Manages the performance of the freight forwarders and small parcel service providers serving the MSD Biotech site and conducts management review & incident investigations as required.
• Responsible for the on-going training & development of all Logistics personnel.
• Works with Planning on the introduction of new raw materials to the MSD Biotech site. Ensures that all operational & compliance issues are addressed.
• Ensures that the site achieves "Known Consignor" status under the Air Cargo Security Programme. Supports MSD's participation in the US C-TPAT programme and EU AEO Programme.
• Ensures that the site implements the Supply Chain Security provisions required by the company, Irish or EU regulations or by the freight forwarding partners or airlines.
• Acts as company representative for liaison with Government organisations including:
• Large Cases Division of Irish Revenue service on matters relating to the import & export activities and duty management for the various MSD financial entities.
• Health & Safety Authority regarding compliance with Road Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations
• Department of Transport on matters relating to the Air Cargo Security Programme.
• Uses the Lean methodologies to consistently improve on area Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), e.g. EHS metrics, Delivery performance, compliance and team training.
• Support Generation of SOPS for start-up and facilitate review workshops as deemed necessary.
• Author/approve Change controls and MIDAS documents as appropriate

The Logistics Manager will report to the Associate Director, Warehouse and Logistics



• Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, Lean Six Sigma team, etc.
• Demonstrated problem solving capabilities
• Knowledge of and experience in applying Lean Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, with an understanding of regulatory and validation requirements.

• A minimum of 5 years’ Logistics experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
• Start-up experience in a Pharmaceutical facility highly desirable.
• In depth knowledge of Cold Chain logistics requirements.
• In depth knowledge of Global Trade Compliance requirements.
• In depth knowledge of Air Cargo Security Programme requirements.
• In depth knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation by road, sea & air requirements

• Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders across numerous departments
• ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross functional collaborative environment.
• People management skills desirable.

• Minimum of a Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline.
