MSD BIOTECH, DUBLIN
 

The latest addition to the MSD Ireland family is MSD Biotech, Dublin.  The site will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of MSD’s biologics-based medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology, and will expand MSD’s current internal network of biologics drug substance manufacturing plants when full manufacturing operations begin in 2021.

 

MSD Biotech Dublin, will be MSD’s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-Based Drug Substance Facility, with the mission and ambition to manufacture breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world.

 

This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substances for one of MSD’s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to its global network.

 

& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
 

  • S/he will execute procedures to provide manufacturing with the required materials to meet production schedule.  Including receipt of raw materials/intermediates/components to the schedule agreed.  Supply of Dispensary operations and cold chain shipment of Bulk Drug Substance/samples.
  • Extensive use of COMET to track valued inventory required and use of MES systems.  Demonstrated use of electronic systems, i.e. SAP, LIMS, MES, required
  • S/he will assist the Area Manager in developing best in class solutions for the MSD Biotech start-up warehouse.  Utilizing lean methodologies, Kanban, 5S, standard work, etc
  • S/he will be a “go-to” person in the MSD Biotech, Dublin Warehouse and/or Dispensary, providing key coaching/guidance to less experiences staff members
  • S/he will help in the start-up of the Warehouse & Dispensary Operation, helping the team to support C&Q activities, developing processes/SOP and giving input in the development of COMET (SAP), LIMS and MES.
  • As needed by the business, s/he will perform cleanroom/dispensing operations in the Grade C Dispensing/Sampling suite
  • S/he will contribute to the overall Warehouse/Dispensary strategy for the department, with focus on material supply to manufacturing and participating in wider Warehouse/Logistics activities.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Responsible for Warehouse and/or Dispensing Activities activities, such as Incoming Goods Receipt, RM Sampling, put-away, RM Dispensing in Grade C, pick for manufacturing, shipping Drug Substance, etc
  • Link in with planners/schedulers in order to aid the Area Manager to ensure that that the area has a steady stream of Process Orders in order to maximize people/equipment utilization.
  • Provide support in order to provide the on-site distribution of materials to key internal customers, i.e. manufacturing, Labs, MS&T, etc.
  • Work to ensure there is 100% availability of SAP/MES Managed material to agreed schedule with manufacturing
  • Extensive use of key Warehouse/Dispensary equipment, reach truck, VNA, motorized pallet trucks, Downflow Booth, Scales, Drum tippers, etc.  Able to act as SME for this equipment
  • Initiate & promote Continuous Improvements and Process improvement within the Warehouse/Dispensary Operations area
  • Proactively seek opportunities for reduce cost and increase productivity, i.e. reduction in consumable spend, improved scheduling, trusted dispense opportunities, etc
  • Aid in the start up of Warehouse/Dispensary operation for MSD Biotech, Dublin developing SOP’s, work practices, shift structures (if applicable), etc
  • perform all Dispensary/Sampling operations requirements as identified by area management

 
 
REPORTING STRUCTURE
 

S/he will report into an Area Manager within the Warehouse/Logistics function.

 

There may be a requirement for shift work in this role after the initial c.18 months of the project.



Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

 


General

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in warehouse, dispensary or logistics, in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating industry.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Demonstrated change management skills with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Capability to interact and communicate with all levels of operational teams and greater Supply Chain team.
  • The ability to influence decision making in a manner that achieves the best possible solution for the organization
  • Excellent understanding of how a Warehouse operates when required to support a manufacturing facility.

 

Technical

  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse/Dispensary operations, i.e. best in class practices in Warehousing/Dispensary.
  • Clear understanding of all functions in a Biologics warehouse, i.e. controlled ambient storage, cold storage (2-8C), ultra-low storage (-40C) and Cryogenic Storage (-70C)
  • Experienced and trained on reach truck, counter balance truck, VNA truck and motorised pallet truck
  • Experience on use of equipment used in a RM Sampling/Dispensary Operation, i.e. Downflow booths, scales, Fumehoods, drum movers, etc
  • Preference for candidate to have a good knowledge of the overall Drug Substance manufacturing process (Upstream & Downstream processes)

  • Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders across numerous departments
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills, attentiveness and an approachable manner for interactions with inter-departmental colleagues.
  • high degree of problem solving ability and adherence to scheduled timelines.

 
 

Education

  • Preferably a Level 6 qualification in a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP/FDA regulatory requirements, housekeeping, health and safety.
  • Knowledge of validation an advantage but not essential.
  • Previous experience of working within a Known Consignor approved warehouse an advantage.
