We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic communications placement student who is keen to gain exposure within a corporate communications and policy environment. The successful applicant will spend a year as part of the communications and policy department supporting the activities of the team seeking to improve internal and external communications and to enhance our company reputation.

The Position

This 1 year placement, based in Milton Keynes, will provide the opportunity to build your communication skills and knowledge within a healthcare environment and provide valuable practical experience in internal communications, external relations and policy.

You will work as part of a team of three and with multiple external PR agencies experienced in agricultural, veterinary and consumer communications. You will have the opportunity to support, give input to and lead communications projects. You will interact with people across the business, external organisations and the media.

Key Responsibilities


As the corporate communications assistant you will assist with and gain exposure to:

  • Devising and implementing internal communications campaigns

  • Developing content for internal communications channels

  • Management of internal communications channels

  • Assisting with corporate PR campaigns on key strategic themes such as preventative healthcare

  • Liaising with PR agencies

  • Managing media monitoring and analysis

  • Administration tasks as required such as subscriptions

  • Other ad-hoc projects as required.

This is an office based role with some anticipated travel to national events and meetings

Key Capabilities/Skills

  • Ability to communicate accurately both written and verbally

  • Good presentation skills

  • Good organiser and administrator with excellent time management

  • Outstanding team player, learning from and helping others overcome obstacles

  • Confident with a willingness to get involved

  • Strong sense of urgency, takes initiative to do things without being asked

  • Has a can do attitude, anticipates problems and proposes solutions, approaches work challenges creatively with fresh ideas

  • Listens and adapts to improve

  • Ability to run projects with a good eye for detail

  • A self starter who can be relied upon to work without supervision

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)




Education and Experience

  • Working towards a minimum of a 2:1 degree

  • Entering your third or penultimate year of study, returning to your degree course at the end of the placement
