For the Integrated Process Team (IPT) Solids Packaging, we are looking for an:

Engineering Manager 

The position

Reporting into the IPT Lead you will manage a team of 10 fte, i.e. 2 to 3 Asset Managers, a Process and Automation Engineer and a Technical Lead, who has 6 direct reports ((Senior) Technicians). You will be responsible for capital investment of new production capital, maintenance of production capital and operational performance. You will set standards within the IPT or CoE (Center of Excellence) and initiate and contribute to the implementation of technical improvements on assets, utilities, facilities and systems. You will ensure that the required level of technical expertise is available and you wil ensure that equipment, utilities, facilities and systems comply with technical, EHS and GMP procedures & guidelines.

As part of the role you will also be responsible for:

Team performance

• Ensure with his team, safe and compliant maintenance of all assets within the IPT;
• Ensure optimal maintenance plans and spare part strategies for all assets, enabling risk based asset reliability;
• Ensure optimal reliability of all assets within the IPT during the entire life cycle;
• Ensure full compliance of all assets within the IPT to GMP and EHS standards, including all related compliance documentation;
• Ensure compliant availability and efficient maintenance of all systems that are used within the IPT.

Technical improvements plans

• Identify, analyse and prioritize technical business related needs within the IPT or CoE and translate these into the technical IPT portfolio.

Capital investments

• Formulate proposals / business cases for technical improvement projects including deliverables and planning for the development and implementation of proposed improvements.

Project Management

• Initiate, steer and/or participate in projects in line with the defined project execution plans;
• Realise  project objectives, improving the compliance and/or safety performance, or business efficiency.

Engineering Change Management
• Formulate change management proposals and authorize changes according change control and management of change procedures.

Engineering & Maintenance Policy

• Initiate, develop and ensure implementation of knowledge, standards, procedures and guidelines regarding assets and their reliability during their life cycle;
• Allign with other Maintenance and Reliability Engineers on reliability strategy;
• Allign with relevant stakeholders of the QMS and EHS standards.

Maintenance budget

• Responsible for  the maintenance budget proposal and execution  of the IPTwithin the planning & control procedures and guidelines.

EHS Responsibility

• Responsible for the realization of our corporate policy on safety, health and environment. Demonstrate personal commitment with respect to working safely, healthy and environmentally friendly.
• Responsible for adherence to safety standards for all assets.

Welcome in our team

The Pharmaceutical Operations IPT Solids Packaging is responsible for the packaging processes of tablets. The strategic focus of the IPT is on the right-first-time packaging of product requested by the customer, with a strong focus on quality. Continuous improvement based on lean principles is the guiding principle here. The production activities within the IPT take place in a 3-shift service in order to meet the demand.


Your profile
• Technical or Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s degree;
• At least 8-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a technical or manufacturing environment;
• Good people management and leadership skills;
• Good prioritizing skills and being able to make a right decision also in case of (time) pressure;
• Strong focus on safety, quality/compliance and clients;
• Innovative abilities, strong drive to improve;
• Teamplayer;
• Good communication skills both oral as in writing in Dutch and English.
