Our team is developing a software product internally known as Mantis that utilises Hadoop cluster and Enterprise Data Warehousing technologies to enable advancements in drug and medicine research, development and manufacturing. 

As a Java Developer in our team you will

  •  Deliver application that helps our scientists, researchers or data scientists understand the data related to drug research, manufacturing or sales
  •  form, be part of and grow the Hadoop community in MSD
  •  design and implement various layers of our product, including ingest pipelines, data modelling, data warehousing and business intelligence
  •  develop all of that on top of Hadoop and various DBMS (Teradata and other)
  •  work on testing and automation of our whole product, so far our test coverage is XY %

 

What you really need for this job

  • Java is the core our our stack, we prefer Java 8 and Spring but any other version or flavour is also great
  • naturally, some scripting never hurts (Bash or Python)
  • basic grasp of git, for the rest Stack Overflow is your (and our) friend
  • never ever use a tab instead of spaces
  •  and most of all, Interest in new technologies and willingness to learn

 

What we also do (and will be happy if you do too)

  •  we integrate with Jenkins, but it’s not difficult to learn if you haven’t
  •  we are using Hadoop, Hortonworks specifically, any hands-on with Hadoop is great
  •  our application connects to DWH - it is great if you have some kind of overview of this
  •  sometimes we touch Data Modeling in SAP Power Designer
  •  the whole monster is running in AWS, so any experience with Amazon other than buying books will help
  •  to be honest, pharmaceutical business is regulated because we are often dealing with sensitive pacient or research data, you would be less surprised if you had previously worked in finance, banking or pharma
  •  but it is not that bad, really!
