  • Consults with IPT/COE to understand
    their needs to make appropriate learning assumptions and solutions.
  • Support needs assessment and/or
    capability gap analyses.  Identify
    required skills and knowledge that need to be included in the learning
    intervention in collaboration with Snr Learning Specialist and Associate
    Director, Learning & Development.
  • Support the business in ensuring
    Learning and Development processes meet the needs of the organisation from a
    learning and compliance perspective.
  • Supports the Learning & Development
    organisation implement, maintain and continuously improve standard site
    processes, ie. Job Skills & Qualification, SOP Process, Annual GMP, Safety
    Programmes and New Employee Orientation.
  • Supports
    the organisation in Permanent Inspection Readiness and cGMP Compliance.
  • Partners with business to develop area
    capability plans linked to business requirements, inclusive of job, functional
    and leadership skills as well as development of team capabilities.
  • Collaborate
    with MMD Learning, Learning Support Services and other MMD sites to leverage
    best practices.
  • Coaches Subject Matter Experts and
    Trainers for learning programmes.
  • Delivers
    assigned routine training as required.

  • Applies knowledge of the business
    and/or stakeholder to identify learning strategies to enable the critical
    success factors required to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate with business and is viewed
    as a trusted advisor.
  • Conducts needs assessment and
    capability-gap analysis for single learning solutions.
  • Applies learning industry expertise to
    identify potential learning solutions.
  • Demonstrate impact and benefits of learning
    organisation on business success through learning solutions.

Design and Content Development

  • Demonstrates
    knowledge of instructional design, development, adult learning principles,
    delivery methods and design platforms.
  • Demonstrates
    understanding of training needs analysis results and appropriate learning
    objectives, delivery methods and design strategies.
  • Develops
    basic learning solutions based on analysis and design primarily using existing
    content and templates; little to no customization of learning solutions.
  • Acts
    as a contact for the LSS Design and Development group.


  • Demonstrates
    knowledge of the learning solution delivery components.
  • Demonstrates
    basic understanding of project management tools, resource requirement analysis,
    and budgeting.


  • Demonstrates
    a basic understanding of established learning technologies, tools, and systems
  • Demonstrates
    an understanding of the role of learning technology in employee capability
  • Demonstrates
    awareness of data standards and system maintenance structure.

Execution & Delivery

  • Applies knowledge of various learning
    environments when executing and delivering a training programme.
  • Actively applies adult learning
    principles, and adapts learning approach and activities to reflect learner
    needs and course objectives to meet desired business outcomes.
  • Prepares subject matter experts to
    facilitate learning sessions.
  • Develops a basic implementation plan
    considering the readiness of the business, learners and trainers.

Measurement & Evaluation

  • Selects and understands the “right”
    data, and uses it to help evaluate individual learning solutions
  • Uses simple data sets to begin drawing
    broad conclusions about learning trends or issues and anticipate future
    learning trends or issues
  • Aware
    of different evaluation methodologies for learning impact; prepares and shares
    analytical reports.


  • Attending
    and successfully completing applicable GMP training, including training in local
    operating procedures.  Responsible to
    ensure that this training is accurately recorded in training records.  All training is in compliance with procedures
    relevant to the role/activity. 
  • Understands and manages compliance
    documentation to ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory
  • Ensures adherence to Chapter 11 and all
    Learning & Development policies and processes from site, MMD Learning and
  • Support any EHS or Quality
    Compliance regulatory audits as required.
  • Ensures Safety and Quality policies and guidelines are followed by
    all colleagues within the Learning & Development function.  Responsible for bringing to the attention of management
    any violation in cGMPs and/or other concerns which may affect the safety of
    People or the safety of product; efficacy, or purity of Merck product.
  • Ensure
    adherence to Chapter 11 and Learning and Development Processes and Procedures.


  • Develops
    Self in the discipline of Lean Production Systems, JIT, etc. and daily continuous
    improvement (KATA).   Provides Data to
    identify and facilitate CI Opportunities within Learning & Development and
    also within IPT/COE’s.
  • Participates in process improvement projects or
    LSS implementation projects to achieve measurable benefits such as process
    improvements or business outcomes

  • Bachelor
    Degree in Adult Education or equivalent
  • Strong
    operations experience


  • 5
    years of experience in Learning & Development or Organisational Development
  • Preferred
    experience in:
  • 2
    years in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or FMCG
  • Knowledge
    of Quality systems, cGMP, and regulatory inspections
