Netherlands is home to some of the largest MSD manufacturing sites in the world. In Haarlem we produce, package and distribute 2.500 different medicines and vaccines to 140 countries worldwide. Haarlem is known as the 'flexible packaging' site in Europe. We can switch our machines quickly to shift between all kinds of different packaging. From jars to so called 'blister packs' and from syringes to powders for infusion treatment. All of them provided with the right packaging and package leaflet in the right language.
Making possibilities real
More than 30 years ago, our company established the MECTIZAN® (ivermectin) Donation Program (MDP)—the longest-running disease-specific drug donation program and public-private partnership of its kind.
MSD has set a goal of eliminating river blindness. To this end, mectizan has been produced in Haarlem since 1987, which by way of donation reaches a total of 100 million people annually in 35 countries. Through this, blindness is prevented in around 40.000 people every year.
